Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They are Pirelli Assimetric as installed originally.
Leading evidence: 'Install originally' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'inflation problem' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check allignment' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

When they alligned it, he said he changed the camber to alleviate the excessive inside wear, but it made it worse.

Suspected cause
If it's all in the center of the tire or all on both outside edges then it's probably an inflation problem.

Suggestion
So i asked them to check the allignment, which showed to be way out of whack!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2003 C4S. The original rear Pirellis lasted until 15,000 miles.
I replaced them and had an independent Porsche shop here in Nashville do a 4 wheel allignment. He set the rears a little straighter, saying it helped the inner tirte wear people were complaining about.
It's been about 5,000 miles and the new rears are already showing the wear indicaters and are very noisy. Do you think this is a result of the allignment or just this set of tires. They are Pirelli Assimetric as installed originally.
Thanks
Did you replace w same line of tires? 5000 sounds pretty low in tife span. Is the wear pattern different this time? Do you drive the car differently?
I'd recheck alignment and not change the geometry. If you are looking for longer life, get a harder compound tire instead.
5,000 is very low even for aggressive driving. I'd bet your toe is goofed up, especially if the wear is relatively even across the tread. He probably backed off on the camber, but put too much toe or didn't set it very well. The rears have a tendency to go out of alignment if not set well.
It sure sounds like an alignment problem. It's important to know the nature of the wear. If the wear is all on the inside or outside edge then you've probably got a camber problem. If the wear is even across the tire you've probably got a toe problem. If it's all in the center of the tire or all on both outside edges then it's probably an inflation problem.
I had new set of Contis put on earlier this year. I asked them to do the allignment as well. I had some toe out on the rears which made the car nervous at speeds, but fun in twisties. I believe they screwed it up and I shot a set of rear in 6-7000 kms... I went to another store and put on PS1. Better ride but they started to show some ear after 5000 kms. So i asked them to check the allignment, which showed to be way out of whack! Now everything feels good and the car has become more silent.
Bottom line. I think your allignemt needs to be checked again, by a diferent store. I am sure you wil be surprised...
I expect my rears to last 17-20k kms. I do Auto X and am an aggressive driver.
The wear is all on the inside. When they alligned it, he said he changed the camber to alleviate the excessive inside wear, but it made it worse. Thank you all
