I highly recommend the Canon 20D -- a huge step up from things like the Rebel with considerable more flexibility, speed and performance.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm gettin rid of my palm sized Sony DSC-U30 because it's seen better days and with only 2MP, a tiny flash and no optical zoom, its quality is lousy in anything but the most perfect of light.
I was thinking about getting a sony DSC-T1 because its also extremly tiny (this is very important to me because i must be able 2 fit it in my pocket). Then again, sony lenses are not the best and i don't know how well the camera does with distances and low light.
Any recomendations?
I just purchased a Casio Exilim EX-S500.
Casio Exilim Link
I can't say enough good things about this tiny camera. It's 5mp, takes up to an hour of full motion video and sound, it's awesome.
I reduced the size of this pic by 50%.
Check out dpreview.com for a good set of reviews and forums on digital cameras. They have good reviews of a broad range of cameras, not just high end digital SLRs.

Sony cybershot DSC-T7.
As thick as 3 credit cards - literally - and the gig card will hold 1200 pics on high quality.
I took mine to Europe, and filled it with 460 pics and 120 videos on one card and b/c it is sooooo small you can carry it with you everywhere.
Its the best camera I ever bought.
I have several cameras from Leica's to Nikon-- film cameras as well as several digital cameras including digital SLR's. As far as digital is concerned its pretty much contingent on how much you want to spend. I would stay with recognized name brand cameras like Nikon, Olympus, Cannon, Fuji, etc and so on.
Everyone is in the digital camera business today. Names like Casio are familiar but their camera build and image quality is genrally less than average to poor particularly the new ones. They are, IMHO nothing more than "me too" cameras. They have the technology to build small devices but they generally have very poor lenses and are relatively slow on the ISO and shutter speeds as well as power up lag time, buffering and high speed shooting. They are however, a good camera for children to learn on.
Don't get caught up in the "Megapixel" game. Try to focus on the lens quality, ISO and shutter speeds because that is where the techology is right now. Some images taken on Nikon, Oly, Pentax or Fuji, 4 megapixels actually look better than some of the 6 and 7 megapixels and they are a steal to boot.

If I were to recommend one today it would be the less than $400.00 Fuji F10. (BH Photo New York)
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?
Its the fastest point and shoot available today with ISO range peaking at 1600 with a very large viewing screen on the back with an absolutely razor sharp lens. It also has a fast shooting mode which will allow you to take lots of pics fast without lag times that Casio is plagued with. It has received tremendous reviews in Pop Photography and Shutterbug. Check the above site for a full review of the F10.
I highly recommend the Canon 20D -- a huge step up from things like the Rebel with considerable more flexibility, speed and performance. I have had mine for a couple of months and love it. But not cheap and not light!
I just bought one of these this week.....wow.....steep learning curve, but phenomenal piece of equipment.....I bought mine used....there's a cool website where you can learn a lot, and they have a great BUY/SELL forum,

I love the idea that I can collect really great lenses, and when I upgrade to a new body, my collection works with the upgrade!!!
^ jumper, awsome pics.
conclusion: ok folks, it turns out that i ended up buying the DSC-T7. Henry's had a sale on (sony price: 647, henry's: 540) and the guy threw in a free case so i figured what the hell, this lil camera ain't bad.
downside: memorystick duo cards are pretty damned pricey.
I did my homework on the camera I got. I was looking for an in-expensive camera that takes great pictures and you can carry it around. Obviously I would love to have a Canon 20D or 10D for that matter but a SLR is neither. Previosly had a Sony and wasn't at all happy with it. Hopefully yours isn't as bad as mine was.
Post some pics when you get a chance.
The Sony memorystick technology is the main reason I don't like Sony cameras.
I have the Nikon D-100, which is a digital SLR, it's totally different beast than these paper thin cameras... I'm still learning how to shoot with my Nikon.
Have fun with the camera!! and post some pics.
