The 996 will need alot of cleaning due to the owner not really caring about the car over the years.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well I have been wanting a porsche for years, but I have not bought one up to this point just to say i have one. I wanted to make sure it was the right way. Well my friend built a 996 a few years ago and did an incredible job with it (i think others witll disagree) . The car was built by The Racers Group located in California. He dumped a ton of $$ into it and when he got it back, it just wasn't what he wanted. He wanted more of a SHOW car.... not a street legal race type car. It has alot of carbon fiber body parts now and is pretty quick. They did minor motor upgrades and the cars runs great! He gave me an offer the other night and I just can't pass it up. So within the next 2 weeks I will have everything finalized and be a new owner of a 1999 996 Carerra. 6 speed 30,000 miles. Fikse wheels, new tires, just got tuned, HID headlight coversion full carbon kit, H&R coils, upgraded sway bars, carbon fiber interior.. the list goes on.. but needless to say I am just stoked for my first Porsche pix suck i know... they were taken a while ago

POST 3Original post

Welcome and congrads on your firrst P-car (almost). Of course, we will want updated pics pnce she is yours!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't know the exact name of the color, but it's the factory yelllow that the car came as. It's not Fly yellow.. so if anyone could answer it correctly.. please do I have been building cars for about 14 years now. I have owned over 12 VW's and 4 sport bikes. I have spent alot of time with the local Porsche chapter and I really enjoy hanging out with those guys/gals, Everyone is always so nice at the track days. here is my other car., it's a 2004 VW R32. The car has been in numerous magazines and is also a feature car for VF-engineering and status racing This new car should be fun to clean up and get exactly how I want it!

POST 7Original post

Damn...that's a hot R32. Welcome to the board.

POST 8Original post

It is kind of hard to see the exact color of your car from the pic but I believe it is Pastel yellow. I am pretty sure that Porsche had two yellows that year. Pastel and Speed yellow. Pastel is a little lighter in color compared to speed yellow.

POST 9Original post

By the way, that is a sweet looking R32. For someone that keeps such a clean looking engine and overall car is going to even nicer things to that Porsche. Congrats. My 996 looks a little boring compared to yours but in due time things will change.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes your are correct.. pastel yellow.. now that you say it I remember! i just talked to the owner today. pciking up the car tomorrow to do the inspection and taking care of all the paperwork next week. whoo hoo!! Thanks for the complimetns on my currnet car.. I do love my VW's.. this is just my next step. The 996 will need alot of cleaning due to the owner not really caring about the car over the years. hopfully I will have it in time for the PCA event that is real soon
