Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I just removed 44lbs from the 996. I used and oddessy 13.5lb dry cell and replaced the 57.5lb stocker. Anyway, while I was swiching them out I noticed a clear tube going to the battery. Anyone know what it's for and if I need it? I guess I could but it won't tell me if it's ok to go without. Thanks everyone.

POST 2Original post

It's a vent tube that goes to the wheel well right where the brake lines are. It vents battery acid gassing. IMHO, it's a stupid place to vent a battery. Ask me how I know. Please post link for the battery. Dry sounds like my kind of battery.

Cool, that makes sense. Here is where I got all the info... http://www.stealth316.com/2-dynabatt.htm I went with the 680T because it has the automotive posts included. I also purchased the black aluminum battery box and used two tiny sheet metal screws with washers. Super easy. http://www.gotbatteries.com/items.as...SL105/37L105S4
