Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just shipped the mufflers to FD Motorsports for Darin to do his thing. My question to the jury is how can I make this tail pipes look better than what they are. All inputs welcome.

POST 2Original post

Just polish them, I like them just the way they are. Going to FD tomorrow for Fister mod. on my, new to me, '04 Cab.

POST 3Original post

Get some Mothers metal polish and a buffing wheel. Put them in a vise and polish away. Or get some of these

POST 4Original post

I cleaned mine up last year. You can get them very shiny but it takes a bit of work. The process I used was - start with medium or fine grade steel wool. It works better than sand paper to remove the carbon deposits. - sand off scratches with a high grit sandpaper. You might get away with ~1000 grit but if the scratches are too deep start with a lower grit and work upwards - for a really nice shine use a steel polishing compound and a buffing wheel - finish with a metal polish (I'd second the vote for Mothers) It doesn't take long at all. The hardest part for me was getting the tips off the exhaust.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everybody for your inputs. I decided to send them to Darin to have them powder coated velvet black. I think they are going to look sharp on my red 996 with black wheels.

POST 6Original post

I just did mine last year. Just used a cotton cloth, metal polisher and a bit of elbow grease. They look much better now.

POST 7Original post

I use a bit of clay bar to remove the soot and road grime.
