On my 2000, I ran the V-1 wire down behind the A pillar (easy to remove), and then through a seam in the dash right at the bottom of the pillar.

As I recall, you can get a new dash fairly cheap (used) but the issue seems to be introdcuing rattles in the replacement.

Or can I use a piece of plastic to push the leather back under the dash?

I check into this at one point in terms of replacing the dash on a 1999.

dont really see that too much, most often when people use to harsh cleaning cemicals on the leather, personaly I think your best bet is a trim shop any diy attempt to repair it could damage it more, unless it is simply just loose and could be repaired with adhesive

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm a noob so please pardon me if my question has been answered a million times.
I have a Seal Grey 2001 C2 cabriolet with full leather interior. The leather on the top of my dashboard has gotten hot and has wrinkled and is bulging big time. The glue has clearly lost its stickiness. The leather has pulled up from under the front of the dash near the windshield. It still has a bit of leather under the front of the dash but not much. How in the heck can I fix it? Do I need to remove the dashboard? Or can I use a piece of plastic to push the leather back under the dash? If I need to remove the dash, how do I begin? Thanks in advance.

Id take it to the trim shop
my dash leather is deforming a little near the passenger side dash speaker....minor wrinkles...but an ugly site!!! I have read that this is a P problem....and it happens in the very hot states!
I check into this at one point in terms of replacing the dash on a 1999. As I recall, you can get a new dash fairly cheap (used) but the issue seems to be introdcuing rattles in the replacement. I have seen pics of a removed dash and it looked extensive (to me). if you seach under dash removal / replacement, on renntech.org, 'toolpants' posted a pic that scared me away from it.
Thanks all. I have my car at a shop right now and they are looking into what it would take to fix the problem. I'm waiting on a price and and maybe some advice on how to do it myself. If I do decide to try it, I'll post pictures of step by step.
Um, I just looked at Loren's photo and suddenly my dash looks beautiful with the wrinkle.
P.S. The guy at the shop directed me elsewhere. More to come.
Would someone care to post a dash removal DIY? I'm trying to move a GPS antennae next to the passenger side A-piller and the wires run through the dash.
On my 2000, I ran the V-1 wire down behind the A pillar (easy to remove), and then through a seam in the dash right at the bottom of the pillar. No sweat.
The dashboard of my '02 996 cabriolet ate the rocker switch that controls the up-down operation of the top. The top was down and rain threatened. I pushed the rocker as usual to raise (close) the top and the switch backed into the dash. It is visible but recessed now and cannot be rocked to either side - nothing is supporting it. How do I get to it to repair- really refasten- or do I have to replace god know what.
The panel section that houses that switch is easily pried of with a little care and a (preferably) plastic blade of some sort.
Pop it off, reinsert the switch from the rear, press piece back on.
Kim - Thanks for the hint - Don't know if this is a related issues but I was able to raise the top (close) using the door lock/key procedure. Now however, the door lock/ key procedure does not function - the top will not go down. Ah, the joys of Porsche ownership - I was told that the door/key malfunction has to do with clearing out some codes which somehow will then enable the door/key to again work. I'll work on the rocker switch first. Thanks again. Brad - '02 C4 cab, triple black but the black is a pain to keep gleaming!
