My 996 C4S was rear-ended and totaled awhile ago. I just found the spare key and the valet key. Are these of any use for anything (or anybody) or just a throwaway?

Unless you can provide the key ID (written on a piece of paper) such that they can be re-programmed to another vehicle, then these keys are useless.
