Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Like many of us, my car catalytic converter have been replaced a couple of times under warranty.

I've often wondered if I can have a muffler shop simply cut the old cat out and place in a couple of couplings and a generic catalytic convertor because I know the cat is going to go bad again, thus just replacing a cheap universal cat and leave pipes alone.
Leading evidence: 'Replace like many of us, my car catalytic converter' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace cheap universal cat and leave pipes alone' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Granted I use my car on track quite a bit but I have never done any engine mods.

Unfortunately this time the warranty is over so I decided to remove them and replace with aftermarket part.

Back to using cat delete pipes on track I suppose (I got lazy switching back and forth all the time).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

I'd even wonder if we could simply open the thing up and empty it completely and try to use those O2 sensor 'extender' to fool the on board computer from throwing a CEL light.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Like many of us, my car catalytic converter have been replaced a couple of times under warranty. Unfortunately this time the warranty is over so I decided to remove them and replace with aftermarket part. Before putting the new one in place I took a little video showing the clunking noise they make when they are shaked. This is usually the first noise you will hear before the infamous CEL light comes up on the dash. Something is really wrong with the way they are built as it seems like a big chunk is completely loose in there

Mine's bad right now. I've often wondered if I can have a muffler shop simply cut the old cat out and place in a couple of couplings and a generic catalytic convertor because I know the cat is going to go bad again, thus just replacing a cheap universal cat and leave pipes alone.

Now that I started tracking my 02 I got a X-pipe cat delete so that I don't kill the stock cats. So now I just switch out the cats when I go to the track
AND the extra power of the pipe is a big +
Which cat brand are you using ?
I assume you have a CEL light on the dashboard all the time then ? Or did you manage to bypass the O2 sensor in some ways ?
Ps: no smog test in Florida
From the sound of the rattle in my exhaust and the CEL it seems as though I will be on my second converter replacement soon. What is going on with these? Granted I use my car on track quite a bit but I have never done any engine mods. I am guessing under higher loads the computer really richens the mixture which in turn makes the converters overheat. Back to using cat delete pipes on track I suppose (I got lazy switching back and forth all the time).
For the 02 sensor error without cats you can use a spacer on the secondary 02 sensor to fool it. Here's a guide.
