Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got a set of used Fabspeed Bypass pipes, but they did not come with the clamps to secure them to the car. What are you guys using to secure these bypass pipes? What kind of clamps do they ship with? Any pictures? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Delirium, Just had a set installed last week, and the shop did use...and charge me for "additional brackets". I'll try and get under my car with a camera in the next couple days to snap a shot or two. My shop is in Toronto so I doubt it's worth a call for you, but here's the number regardless; Autowerks [phone removed]. Courtney Walsh, the owner is a very reputable Porsche Master Mechanic and a very nice guy to boot. I'm sure he would point you in the right direction. Hope that helps for now. Rob

POST 3Original post

As promised, here are some quick shots of the brackets. Sorry for the lack of detail, just stuck the camera under the car without a lift. Hope it helps Rob

POST 4Original post

When I bought new pipes they didn't ship the clamps and the pipes weren't cut to flex either.................. You can use any muffler clamp and if they're not enlarged or cut you can have a local muffler shop do for next to nothing.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the cuts for flex on them, but you mean that some of the bypass pipes are not enlarged to fit over the stock pipes? I thought that was part of the design?

POST 7Original post

I put some "band-clamps" from Sumitt on mine. They were about $8 each. Can provide pics if you need...Peice of cake to install.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can you please post pictures of them? The correct diameter is 2.25" right? or is it 2.5" since this pipe slips over the catylitic converter pipe? Do you still have the link to the clamps you bought on Summit Racing? Is it these? http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

POST 9Original post

Delirium, Yes those are the ones. Mine came out of Atlanta, Ga. ( 2.25") Sorry for the bad pictures, it's about 30' here on my cold-*** garage floor...it's all you get...lol. The bolts are a little too long, so be sure to rotate the clamp down so you wont rubb a little hose on the drivers-side(you'll see).

POST 10Original post

Jugger - very nice of you to post those pics for him to see!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you Jugger!!! You the Man! What kind of bypass pipes are those? Your tips dont look like the fabspeed tips. Also, it looks like your bypass pipe does not slip over the CAT pipe in the picture, it looks more like the exhaust clamp is joining the 2 pipes together, whereas the fabspeed ones slip over the CAT pipe... or is it just deceiving in the picture? Thanks again!

POST 12Original post

I know, having "issues" posting....after crawling on the cold wet ground to snap them! Will try again. Rob

POST 13Original post

Older Fabspeed's, guess they may have changed them. They do slip onto the cats, just covered up. Went for the band-clamps as to conceal them from view. Had those u-bolt type, but could see them from behind .If you look at the bottom two pics, you can see the "crease" of the slip-on. Get ready to trun some heads! I have a thread of a video of them on the P-car around here if you look. Search Fabspeed By-pass's.

POST 14Original post

old thread resurrection but I wanted to say that I just installed my muffler bypass and also I was upset that I could not use the stock muffler clamps. indeed the stock muffler clamp diameter is 2.25 and the bypass pipe, don't just sit next to the cat output, like the stock muffler, instead they slide on the outside of them, thus adding a 0.25 thickness. I was starting to look at some clamp replacement but I realized that the stock clamp are made out of two layer of metal. The inner layer can actually be slided out and you end up with a perfect 2.50 diameter clamp It require some muscle work to slide it out but if you remove both clamp individually, then you can slide the inner layout out. I hope this can help some of you wondering how to secure their muffler bypass BTW, yes it is loud with the bypass on, but if you keep your foot light, it is nothing more than a maxflo muffler sounds that you ear often on mustangs. Only problem is indeed there is no way you can put your foot down in the city. Unless you want to be pulled over. I bought mine a while ago and decided to put them on for the weekend for the autocross and have some fun with it, we'll see how long they stay on. Phil

POST 15Original post

Phil... I used stock clamps too...like you say, a little muscle and they come apart (be careful not to over do it, open just enough to get them off) I think mine stayed on over 1 week, less than 3... dont really recall. but not long

POST 16Original post

same for me, i had cats and mufflers bypass, way too loud, decided to keep cats bypass only

POST 18Original post

@Paseb, I'd be curious to hear the catbypass with stock muffler ? I do have the FisterD mod on my stock muffler, they sound pretty good already. Porsche Sport Exhaust PSE, might really be all you need to enjoy the car afterall.
