Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey, Just a quick question for the cabrio owners on the board. Do your buddies give you a hard time for owning a cabrio? Everytime I mention wanting to get a cabrio instead of a coupe, my buddies ALL start making fun of me, calling it a womans car, etc etc. What's the deal with that anyways?

POST 2Original post

I had my Cab for 7 years and found women are attracted to the cars and the men that drive them.

POST 3Original post

i've only had my cab for a few months but all the naw-sayers have been converted. This is my first cab but won't be my last.

POST 4Original post

nothing like taking the cab to the track, passing you buddies in their coupes, and dropping the top and cruising home... Helps that mine is a C4 though! My wife does like to drive it on occasion as well though, so guess it is the best of both worlds!

POST 5Original post

What do your friends who are giving you are hard time driving? I also agree with Nick - the cab is a chick magnet. My cab and I get routinely eyed arriving or leaving the gym, office, restaurants, etc.

POST 6Original post

99 SLK, 05 350z, 03 996, 04 996TT all cabrio, "Cab is a chick magnet." so true

POST 7Original post

Ok breakdown , I just read some of your other posts and you've gone from looking at boxters to aircooled to 997 and now here, always concerned about the cab. It clearly bothers you enough to ponder it for so long and so often - maybe a cab is not for you.... Stop worrying so much about what other people think of you. Otherwise if you get a cab and you get one comment that affects you, you will hate yourself for it

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No matter what I look at, I keep coming back to the cab. I think that tells me I should get one. I rode motorcycles for years and recently sold my Ducati due to a pretty bad crash. I'm hoping the cab replaces some of that feeling.

Your friends are confusing a cab with a Boxster.

POST 12Original post

I'd get new friends if I were you! Cab's rock...

POST 13Original post

Since my friends are mostly driving minivans and honda sedans, they all think the cab is cool stuff. I think the "cab is a car for chicks" mentality only exists in the sportscar-track-racing crowd. The general population just thinks it's a cool car. Just my opinion. In the end, you are the one driving (and paying for) the car, so it's only your opinion that matters. For me, I was looking for a cab before I even decided on a Porsche, so it was a no-brainer.

POST 14Original post

Sounds like your friends are some jealous sob's. And why do you care wtf they think? Geez, get what YOU want and let the haters hate.

I have 2 cabs, none of my friends give me any shi*. IMHO, I suggest new friends!

POST 16Original post

This may be entirely coincidental, but within one week of owning my 330 cabriolet I had a hot blond, 7 years my junior, getting wild in it. Plenty of other adventures of that sort followed. So, I am going to say that not only are Cabriolets man approved, but also help you get chicks to do naughty, naughty things. So they get double plus man approved. Incidentally, I am getting married to said blond on the 28th of this month.

POST 18Original post

with 996 prices so low, get one of each...I did. Althought the coupe is now a track car. The cab is a daily driver, love it, the morning drive to work makes my day.

POST 19Original post

I loved my 01 cab and didn't care what anyone said.

POST 21Original post

I'm sorry I don't see anything "girly" about this.... But to each their own. I never thought I would own a cab but I love it and and Plus you get a nice hardtop and it looks damn close to a coupe with it on!

POST 22Original post

I love the lines with the top up or down, and agree with the hardtop on it looks very close to a coupe.

POST 23Original post

I have a C4S Cab and have had a boxster (cab) and an 914(cab/targa top). I will never go back to an enclosed cockpit again. I leave my top down at least 80% of the time. I take sunrise rides, smmer and winter down the coast with the top down. One thing about Porsches is that there is a Pcar for every like and dislike. There is only one thing that matters, get the car the YOU like. Don't worry about what others say. Afterall, it is your money and your car. The Cab gives the car a lot more options.

POST 24Original post

+1 on the hardtop giving you two cars in one.

POST 27Original post

imho they look good as long as the top is down, i don't think i've ever seen a convertible that looks good when the top is up, on any car, just don't seem like they fit right, especially the older porsches, the plastic windows just never have looked good.

POST 28Original post

I opted for a hardtop and so concur that you can have two 911s for slightly more than just a cabriolet. I absolutely love the fact that I can leave the top down and experience the smells along the way. You miss that element with a coupe. Remember--the first Porsche was a roadster.

POST 31Original post

When given the, "too heavy on the track" I say that topless racing is the original form of racing AND after I'm off the track I can stack it with chicks on the way home...........well if that don't work you can at least say that the sound of the car is more amazing with the roof down.

POST 32Original post

Get what YOU want and don't worry about what others say. I love my cab, and so does my wife and daughter. I get razzed from everyone that has something different, be it brand, air cooled, coupe, track, etc, but at the end of the day, it makes me happy (and it's usually all in fun anyway). Having my my 4 1/2 y/o daughter giggling in the back of the car with the top down makes me about the happiest cab guy in the world.

POST 33Original post

I have had two cabs, a 964 (Guards Red) Killer car and now a 996 becoz the damn 964 was all the time having electical prroblems, believe me you buy a Cab, you'll never go back to a Coupe,

POST 34Original post

For two years, I looked at Caymans as I wanted a hard top. I wasn't even that interested in a 996. However, I found a dealer that had a Cayman next to a 2003 996 Cab. I sat in both, drooled on both and decided that I liked the 996 Cab better. I did not end up buying the car (failed PPI), but I found one I liked ever more days later. My wife loves the car and drives it 90% of the time and always with the top down. The car (and my wife) get a lot of looks! I am happy with the decision and I am lucky when my wife lets me borrow "her" car!
