I can't imagine doing that nice a job on the headunit and upgrading the amp only to use the same cheap speakers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Let's start fresh
My name is Kristy, I'm a newbie porsche owner, although, I am not a newbie to cars. Back in the day, I spent my time working on and racing what they called back then, rice rockets, lol. My last car before turning it in was a turbo charged Acura Integra GSR. It was pretty quick, although still nothing compared to my 996. Anyway, I gave it all up when I became a mom, and did the whole SUV thing for the last 8 years or so, but in my heart I still yearned for some fun.
I'm a single mom and I work my butt off to take care of my daughter and am always taking care of everyone else, so I finally decided that it was time to take care of myself! I deserve it, darn it! So, I went on a hunt and found a beautiful (and mechanically sound - per my personal porsche mechanic, so lucky to have him) 2003 996 C2 I guess is what you call them. It had 48k miles on it. What options I know of so far - it has full supple leather interior, bose sound system (the previous owner added an amp in the trunk), an aftermarket navigation/bluetooth/ipod unit, and memory driver seat. All engine components are stock, and I'm pretty sure those are fake turbo twist wheels on it. Oh yeah, and it's so much faster than my mom-car - the Nissan Rogue, which I think will spend many more days in the garage than the 996
I've it a whole week today
I'm still learning about it and wondering how I went through a whole tank when I only drove it a couple miles, but I guess I'll get used to that part
And now some pics of the beautiful new member of my family.
Very nice car. I see that you are in Irvine - you should join PCA Grand Prix Region
http://grandprixregion.com/
. Talk to Pete (he's my "little" brother).
THANK YOU - errr wait a minute, you promised pics WITH YOU
Lapis Blue, nice color - take a picture of the options sticker on the bottom side of the front hood and people will tell you what those codes mean.. rear wiper is cool - i like em although a tad useless, I sill like em
welcome (again)
Congratulation on the new ride. Based on the pics and what you described, your Bose is completely gone(this is a good thing). Have fun with it. I love my '03.
I thought the speakers and amplifier/equalizer was the only part of the Stereo that is Bose?
I say keep them waiting - from the picture I would you look like Sally Carrera.
Kristy, meet Kyle (he's a little dramatic, do a search for threads started by him. The BOLD statement will become perfectly clear
But he's a good guy - can take what he dishes out.
Kristy,
Thanks for the pics and the intro. Great looking 996. I had an '04 with the same color combination, except my car had deviating carpet in Metro Blue.
Kristy:
WELCOME. Nice looking 996. I love that color blue. I'll bet it just glows as it's rolling down the street. If your experience is anything like mine (I've now had my car for a full week) you will continue to burn through tanks of gas as you enjoy punching the gas and zipping around corners, looking for the Apex so that you can hit the gas and bring that big rear end around. Hmmmmmm.
Enjoy your ride, and glad to see a P-car Gal among us.

Are you sure? I can't imagine doing that nice a job on the headunit and upgrading the amp only to use the same cheap speakers. Check under one of the covers, I'll bet they're new too.
The color is very grabbing.. I guess for lack of a betterword maybe very rich, may be a better term, like a good chocolate cake!
And trust me, dont post a pix. You WILL NEVER get any answers to your questions that will be taken seriously. Trust me DONT DO IT. And you may want to change your Name to Kris.
awe -
I cant believe it.....OK I forget
I have a question, what makes you think the wheels are fake?
does anyone make fake twists, whay, not like they are very desirable ...... I bet they are real.
do you do any work on your own car(s) some things you will find on the p-car are very easy to do with a few simple tools and very gratifying (unlike my continued request for pics
)
Yes mam, fantastic car. You don't have to block out your plate because everybody knows your plate says Mommy's Car. Anywaaaaaay.....on your gas gauge try zeroing the trip odometer by pusing in the dial right after your next fill up. The tank holds around 16 gallons. So if like mine you might read 1/4 when it's actually around 1/2. My gauge and some others are off where you wont read full after a fill up. Don't be extra topping off to try making sure it reads full by the gauge because there it a charcoal filter to handle things that gets gas in it then needs to be replaced it it throws some shut off valve on then lights the Check Engine Light (CEL) Thats one term you will see around here. Get the engine up to temp before doing the race car tricks because its got a lot of pressure in the oil system especially when the oil is cold. You should have 5 bars of pressure till the oil warms up then it can drop to 1 at idle as long as you get at least 3 bars at arounf 5k rpm which is a way under estimate for many of our cars. I'll ramble on some place else now
Welcome, Kristy! Enjoy the car - you've earned it.
Please don't post a picture of yourself. It might start a trend, and I don't want to see pictures of all the overweight, middle-aged guys that make up this board.
I'm so glad I'm not like them - it's an old picture of me, but I've hardly gained any weight since then....
Hi Kristy,
Welcome to the Asylum. (sure you figured that out by now).
Most likely none of your factory stereo components remain.
The Bose logo is on the speaker cover, not on the speaker itself.
The factory system is something called the MOST system and... well.... it sucks.
When you upgrade anything you must upgrade/replace everything. The system is fiber optic and doesn't work with non fiber optic product.
Again, Welcome!
It's nothing personal, just that women who drive Porsches get 2 thumbs up in my book (very hot), and after seeing pics of Tim butt naked, spread eagle across the hood of his Honda, I need to cleanse my mind...
Honestly I have no idea. Someone commented on them saying they thought they were fake, but who knows. I'm not sure why someone would buy fake (or make for that matter) turbo twist wheels, but you never know. I'll try to take upclose pics later.
Oh come on, we don't want her down on her knees looking around the underside of her car now do we? Now do we? I SAID...now do we?
Nice car Kristy!
FYI: Those wheels are correct for your year of car.
Beautiful car! My 1999 996 is lapis blue/grey interior also. Wheels look just like mine and mine aren't fake. FYI my car has 106,000 miles and still purring like a kitten (she's out in the parking lot now so gotta go!)
Again, welcome. We're glad to help if/when you have any questions or problems.
GREAT car and such a beautiful colour! I mean, they're all great but that Lapis Blue is just stunning........
Seriously, great car - nice stereo upgrade too. Enjoy!
Nice car Kristy and welcome to the forum.
Have you show your car at the Car-N-Coffee in Irvine yet?
It held at Ford Corporate parking lot every Saturday.
Let's see your car this Saturday then. Make sure you park your car next to the 2000 Black Cab
I was noticing the same thing. Who are these guys posting in this thread and what have they done with the real members?
...I knew it wouldn't take long for the true colors to get revealed around here.
Welcome to the board and enjoy your Porsche. She looks great. I wasn't particularly happy with my grey interior at first, but it's great for not showing dust and keeps the heat down in the summer. Get used to the gas mileage, or lack there of. Enjoy...
I don't have any pics (my computer HD died and the backup is on my ex's computer which I am not going to ask for, lol). But I have something better for ya. There is this really bad indie film about street racing, back in 2002 or so and my car is the lead car, lol. It's the blue/purple Acura Integra (I guess you can tell I have a love for blue cars
) The car was pretty quick (t3/t4turbo) and fun to drive, but it's hard to compare to the 996.
Here is the trailer:
http://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi1135280153/
Kristy:
Is that an Integra GSR that I saw in the trailer?? I had one - once - super fast, loved it when the Vtec engine came on cam - the sound was deeeeelicious. Unfortunately, at 10,000 miles the car experienced spontaneous combustion. The engine started on fire, and that was the end of my life with the Acura.
Bought my first Lexus SC-300 on the rebound. It was a nice car - - but I missed the stick.
Now I have a 2004 996, and I miss the stick no longer . . . . .
larry
Yeah it was a GSR. Wow sucks that your engine caught fire. I ended up selling to a friend and he drove it for a couple years after, so about 100k miles or more (most of them turbocharged) that I know about and we never had any problems with it. It was definitely a fun little car.
That was fast and the furious, right? LOL Yeah it was about that same time that this movie was made. I was feeling nostalgic after finding the movie on IMDB that I watched the whole thing (all 22 minutes) on YouTube tonight. Gosh it was a bad movie, but at least my car was immortalized on the big screen (ok maybe the small screen, lol).
