And, for the record, the coolant tank was already replaced/updated by the previous owner.

Suggestion

I have not had any problems with them and I know lots of others who are running non-OEM coolant and this is the first that I have heard of any problems with the plastic fittings being effected by the coolant How did you determine that it was the coolant that effected the plastic fittings?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's clear with a yellow tint, and a little slimy. Coolant? And, for the record, the coolant tank was already replaced/updated by the previous owner. Is this leaky hose or water pump perhaps

POST 2Original post

Bobby... Been here.. Its coolant. and its not the hose, Its the water pump. I know it looks like the hose.. But its not.. BTDT. Thats a water pump bolt. But the water is coming out of the shaft not the bolt. It just runs down and drips from there. You can not follow the trail becasue the engine is hot and the stream trail eveps.

POST 3Original post

and also, that may not be the right coolant.. You need to get pantosen in that thing STAT! The amercan coolant breaks down the german plastics... AND TRUST ME... I had to replace some of my "t" fittings due to this. They just trun to a soft almost like melted mush.....

POST 4Original post

I have been running Peak 50/50 for two years, 9,000 miles with no problems. As long as the coolant is rated for aluminum engines and you don't mix it with the old OEM Porsche coolant you are fine. I totally flushed out my system when I changed over.

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 7963587

The problem wasnt aluminum. It was the plastic

POST 6Original post

There is glow in the dark dye stuff for adding to radiator or oils for good tracking down sources. Works with a/c also. Got a kit a long time ago just lucky I already had a halloween black light to spot trails.

POST 7Original post

Shark Attack - I know you were talking about the plastic fittings, etc. I have not had any problems with them and I know lots of others who are running non-OEM coolant and this is the first that I have heard of any problems with the plastic fittings being effected by the coolant How did you determine that it was the coolant that effected the plastic fittings?

POST 8Original post

I agree that appears to be the waterpump. Flush the system with PentoFrost (Pink Pentosin) when you do the job or you'll be back in the same place in about 8 months.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got word from Stuttgart Specialists. The water pump is bad. They are replacing it and the serpentine belt. Total cost estimated at ~$700

POST 10Original post

I guess thats not too bad if they are putting in new antifreeze.

POST 11Original post

Goodluck with that Bobby, it will be as good as new.
