Whenever I see a 40th Anniversary Edition for sale by either Porsche dealers or specialty used dealerships that specialize in high end cars the price is always in the mid 40's.

I've actually seen these both in person (and been for a drive) and while they are nice, remember who is setting the price.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My local dealership has both a Millenium Edition and a 40th Anniversary Edition for sale in the pre-owned cars! The interior on the Millenium is incredible. But the 40th has got to be one of the best looking 996 models of all. http://leith.porschedealer.com/preow...che/search.php (though in all honesty I think what they want for the Millenium is a bit steep - even for a dealership's initial asking price)

crazy prices. a 2000 ME should be closer to $30k

Hmm, I was the 996th viewer... a sign?

That car has been sale for at least 9 months. When I started my search that car would come up in the search results last June. Whenever I see a 40th Anniversary Edition for sale by either Porsche dealers or specialty used dealerships that specialize in high end cars the price is always in the mid 40's. I could not resist the value of the 40th Anniversary Edition compared with a regular C2 in the 99-04 model years. I have been very happy with my choice

POST 9Original post

they got the Y2K car as "gray" and "savannah beige". They need to do their homework! That sort of stuff annoys me. Generally speaking of course.

It has been for sale for a long time, however the current price is more in-line with the market. The first owner (SoCal) added all of the mods: $10K Reus audio system, GT3 lid, HRE wheels and PSS9's. It's actually a good value considering the factory MSRP was $90K.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup - That would explain the delusional price on the ME. Exotic car dealerships (including Porsche) will often price cars higher than any reasonably informed enthusiast will pay. And why not? A surprising number of customers will walk into a Porsche dealership and pay the asking price, having fallen in love with a car for emotional reasons. And lots of the people who walk into Porsche dealerships are not that concerned with the actual correct value of a car. I never begrudge a dealership its ability to make excess profit off these folks...

POST 12Original post

At those prices your are getting close to an 05/06 997S. Crazy! Buy a low miles non anniversary model, and put on a supercharger and aero kit for the same kind of dollars and you will run circles around those cars.

POST 13Original post

rpm's S2, your metallic red coupe looks a lot better to me than those dealership items.
