offer a fixed position turbo style wing and try to replace those struts with Dave's E-Ram Kit.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I love my 996, not that I have anything to really compare it to since its my first car, but I really want to get a good looking spoiler for the car. (yes I am aware of the fact that this might make the car look like you let your teenage child "customize their car" but I do have to "act my age"
) However, I really like the car's active aero that already comes with it and also what ever wing I get would have to fit with the cabriolet top on it. I found a few ideas and options and wanted to get some insight/recommendations on the idea.
1. 3 piece Lip spoiler.
I'd ideally get this done in carbon fiber, but if I am not sold on the look, then I'll get it painted to match the car's color. I Like that this wing incorporates the stock spoiler and is one of the few that looks good with the wing up or down
(a plus since my car has droopy wing syndrome). My only issue is that at some angles its not that nice looking because it fails to wrap around the taillights (If there is a way to do this please let me know). Also it is something that is noticeable, but is a bit subtle-ish
Option 2
Ok, this is where I know things will get kind of crazy and/or prohibitively expensive. but one can dream. Here's the idea, a turbo wing on the narrow body cab. I know that it wont fit, so what I was thinking of doing is getting one of those kits that
offer a fixed position turbo style wing and try to replace those struts with Dave's E-Ram Kit. I know its a pipe dream but I don't expect the wiring to be too difficult. the only issue would be trying to fit the E-rams into the smaller wing. I think that the fixed wing versions are not too different in size so it might work out. If it is a complete flop, then at best it inspires someone to try to make it work at worst its a waste of money. But if it works I'd imagine that it would look really nice, and make the car truly unique
What are your thoughts on these ideas, and if you have any other recommendations for spoilers please send them my way!
Hmmm, I'm not a huge fan in all honesty. If i had a yellow car id be more keen to the idea, but since my car is arctic silver, I'm not so sure how it would look. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Well looks like idea 2 might have to wait till i get more money, I just got quoted for my soft top failure and it cut my budget to around 1k. What do you think about the first spoiler? Also if you have any other recommendations let me know!
I'm probably not the one to talk here, but seeing that its not too much boost, If the engine is properly setup, I'd wager the engine would be fine for a while.
Did you buy the car with the wing already on it or did you install it? I'm actually looking for one of these for my cab, I'm gonna be installing a turbo with an air to air intercooler in the future and as far as I know this wing helps a lot with air flow, I would appreciate it a lot if you can point me in the right direction.

Young911, welcome to the community. My, my, a 996 for your first car? Best of luck with that! Regarding idea #1, the three piece lip spoiler, save your money! The contour of the middle piece to the trunk lid is off, and the angle of the middle piece ends is off from the angle of the end pieces, looks kind of shoddy in my opinion. That's a lot wrong for $781 plus tax and shipping. May I suggest that money would be better spent addressing known mechanical issues with these cars, e.g. Intermediate Shaft bearing, Rear Main Seal, Air Oil Separator, Coolant Reservoir Tank, Cam Chain Tensioners, etc. My advice to you is to get the car sorted mechanically first, then address whatever cosmetic changes you would enjoy making. I'm not trying to harsh your mellow, but these are complex cars with a propensity to bite financially, so first things first. Personally, I was never a fan of big spoilers/wings on the back of these cars. I've added side skirts, front lip, rear diffuser, painted the wheels and lowered my own 996 as cosmetic touches, but I sorted it mechanically first, and you should too. These are great cars, and your taste in acquiring one is to be applauded, but they can get way expensive in a hurry if you don't do the right thing. Just sayin.
I recently purchased this 03. Tech Art Wheels, exhaust and Aero kit. It does not rub the body or whistle below 130. I will report back when i have data above. closest to old school i have seen but have no idea if it's available
I got a very similar looking 996.2. Whats odd/interesting is that the production year of this base carrera is 2004(Oct 2004) but model year is 2005. I thought most of the last few 996.2 were carrera s/4s. This did come with the rear wing thats being discussed here.
