I found a couple on the porsche.ca site, but they were quite expensive, maybe I'll check the US site.

I think you can definitely find a few 996's with clean histories and lower than average miles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, have my 968 conditionally sold on condition I find a new car.
The car I want is a 99-02 Carrera 4 Coupe or Cab. My only real criteria is the car should be clean, and mainly stock from cosmetic standpoint and has to be a manual.
I am not overly concerned about mileage, as long as the car is well maintained. I want to spend on the low - to medium end so any interested parties should bear that in mind. I would prefer a coupe likely as it would sell for less, but am open to a cab as well.
Any potentially interested sellers can let me know, posting (pics are nice ) or im is fine.
Thanks
Kevin
P.S. I am in Vancouver so some logistical work might be required. A car in the west would obviously be a bonus as well.
I think you can definitely find a few 996's with clean histories and lower than average miles. a few Canucks have found them South of the border and had to do some recall paperwork in order to import, but it was still less than finding one in Canada.
two recent members found one-owner 996 C4 coupes with low miles ( less than 20K).
I'd say prices are in the 20-27K range for C2's or C 4's with high mileage, depending on options; but IMO, anything less than 50K miles would be good for 1999-2004 Pcars.
Good luck either way....Pcar shopping is alot of fun.....
Thanks for the info MIA.
I am fine with doing the importation work and am familiar with the process as well, as I brought my 968 in from the USA. I just need to find a car now, there is nothing on ebay (996 C4) except for a lot of higher priced C4S's and the odd higher priced C4 Cab, or C4 Coupe Tip's. I check autotrader but they seem all over priced somehwhat, at least fort my budget. I'm not sure if anyone here has anything in your quoted range...
I bought my 2003 C2 with 27k miles on it for $27k and man this was the only one I could find. If mileage is under 30k, usually the price is above $30k. And for all C4 I have looked at, the price was usually a good $5k more than the c2.
Based on my shopping experience in the past 4 months, lowest you will find a good looking C4 under 50k miles will be $30k and I'd say you will only see ads at $35k but you might be able to negotiate down.
There are some better deals but man you will have to send some fishing hooks in all directions
Keep an eye open in porsche dealership as they have some very good deals I think. cpo will still cost you 5-8k more but think that extended warranty will cost you $3k and they are not as good as CPO. If you want peace of mind and drive it like you stole it.. CPO is way to go.
good luck in your search, searching for a Pcar is almost as fun as driving one
I corrected my previous post; C2's can be found in that price range, C4's are a bit higher also dependent on miles, options, and condition. most of the cars on ebay are C2's anywhere from 18K and up, but some show obvious signs of poor maintenance / condition.
Hi RAC, yes good question, I decided to wait and defer the purchase for awhile as I decided it woukd be better to do so. The CAD dollar is at par now, so that certtainly helps as well, and I decided to hold off selling my car as well (until now) Did you sell your's? (I assume so).
Thanks for your info guys.
I found a couple on the porsche.ca site, but they were quite expensive, maybe I'll check the US site.
I rememeber in the past there being more C4's on ebay, maybe it is a dry spell.

Here's a 1999 C4 Cab I saw on CL. Looks nice in the pics! Says it has a new engine and clutch. Looks like it has the later headlights and tail lights too! I have no affiliation.

You know....if that car is as presented in the description, it is a smoking deal, interior color aside....what do you guys think of it? I actually had come across it already (on ebay actually).
Not a bad looking car, however I'm a coupe guy. Also, the green interior is not for me. Sport seats are a nice bonus. If you ever wanted to sell that car you would have to find a special buyer that likes the interior color.
I think there was another nephrite green interior Pcar on ebay...Was it a one-owner?... I think it would be better to change out the interior // save the OEM stuff for resale. Looks pretty much stock...
well-optioned....
The car seems to be pretty clean, well cared for and all stock. It's obviously the interior that is promoting the lower price for such a nice condition car! If the interior was black, I'm sure the car would have been sold by now, or the asking price would be considerably higher!
IMO, if it's as advertised.........it seems like a good car! I honestly don't know if I could live with the interior color though. I would probably end up changing it out!
I agree, i would be all over that car if it wasn't for that color. I would be happy to find a clean 99-01 c4 Coupe, mileage doesn't matter as long as it is well maintained.
kgain968, go ahead and PM me. i think we talked when we you were last looking. my 996 C4 has a few more miles and gained another set of wheels and tires since then.
You could eventually switch out that interior. It might be cost prohibitive but if you beat up the seller, get it for around $20K and then source a full carbon/aluminum kit/new seat covers/interior dye etc, it might be worth it.
On what planet was that color ever nice? If the car was from the big hair early 80s it is still not even remotely a bearable color.
2002 996 $28K OBO. It doesn't say C2 or C4, but most likely a C2. Worth inquiring about though. Says "IMMACULATE CONDITION". Looks and sounds like a nice car! .........I have no affiliation.

Yep I had to trade it in and picked up a 05 Z4 at the end of February. The Z is fun, but, I still really miss my 911. Someday I'll be back on top again and I'll get a turbo or GT3. until then.
