Does anyone know or where can I find out how many 2005 996 C4S's are out there? I would like to know "how exclusive" this is. Also, do all 2005 996 C4S's come with the X51 Carrera power kit (345 hp) and XLF Sport Exhaust System? Is it safe to assume that if I find an X51 with the XLF that I should snag it immediately?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The official 2004 option sheet that Phil posted (thanks Phil and btw, your old car is STILL not being driven) in my other thread only states the following:

2005 was the last year the 996 C4S was sold. The 997 was introduced that year. The X51 didn't come standard with any of the 996 line up with the exception of the 50th anniversary. So to find a x51 and non tip is rare.
2005 is very Rare, but they are out there... C4S's came with the same Standard Options as a Turbo's
there is an old thread on 6speed entitled "The Official 996 C4s Thread " some nice (and not so nice) posts there
I drove an X51 and I'm just not sure I can feel the difference. Yes, I maximized all usable RPM's on the car. So, how do I know if the car actually has the X51? I.e. - with the Sport Exhaust, it's obvious and I have a button to push to turn it on/off. With the X51, are there any VISUAL cues?

Doesn't the X51 include an aluminum intake manifold (rather than plastic)?
Quotes source post: 6996713
Headers are bigger. Also the options are listed on the underside of the frond hood.

From the PDF that Phil sent, X51 "Includes modified cylinder heads, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, control unit, and aluminum intake manifold." Sorry for the ignorance on my part... but how easy is it to see the "aluminum intake manifold"?
Quotes source post: 6997153
Oh you can see it...
Quotes source post: 6995812
Only if that's the specific car you desire. I would not purchase any 996 for any kind of reason that includes "rarity".
Quotes source post: 6997924
Sorry, I should have been more explicit... Can I see it without having to put the car on a lift? Can I see it when the back trunk is popped open to expose the engine compartment?

Good point, the X51 and sport exhaust was not a "must have" option in my list. And I'm not too keen about the color. The stealer is asking a little bit too much for it as a "premium" (about $2k over a car that wouldn't have it), but to your point, it wasn't specific to what I wanted. Maybe I should keep the search going... Also, I actually bought a paint thickness meter. Some areas of the car was low 3.0 to 3.5. It makes me think that the car was buffed to death as the paint is now thin. Or is it supposed to be that way? Hmmm... I'll start a new thread.

You can clearly see the aluminum intake manifold BTW, I have an 03 C4S with X51 and sport exhaust. It is has the X-73 suspension, and full aero kit also. When I was shopping around for cars, it was such a rare find that I bought it right away. Christian

C4S with X51, sport exhaust, X73, and aero! That's rare and a good find. I want one of those!
I have a 2005 C4S....and it's AWESOME, but I don't know that there is any real demand for it over 2004. Not sure how many were actually built. As others have stated the X51 and PSE were NOT standard. In fact mine doesn't even have the 3rd radiator. My understanding is that you wouldn't get anything different than a 2004, as far as standard features.

That's because your C4S is a Tip! OK, OK I am just kidding! What the hell am I talking about? I drive a 4 cylendar Honda that has an automatic!

Third radiator??? The official 2004 option sheet that Phil posted (thanks Phil and btw, your old car is STILL not being driven) in my other thread only states the following: X51 Carrera Power Kit 345 HP $13,990 Includes modified cylinder heads, camshafts, exhaust manifolds, control unit, and aluminum intake manifold.
I searched and answered my own question about the contents of the X51: From pistonheads: Here is what is added/modified in the X51 kit: - new intake manifold with modified cross-section (material: sand cast aluminium ); - new intake pipe supports adapted to the form of the intake manifold; - new exhaust manifolds with larger cross-section and optimized flow behavior; - new cylinder heads with optimized, CNC-milled inlet ducts; - new camshafts with larger valve stroke on the inlet side and modified inlet and outlet timing; - inlet valve springs adapted to the enlarged valve stroke; - modified partition box in the oil pan; - modified maps for the DME control module; - new underside panel in the transmission area; - all cars (except C4S) get a third radiator. So my question is, why don't the C4S get a 3rd radiator?

The C4S is too cool. but really. it has the turbo front bumper and get much more air cooling then a regular 996 becuase the opening are much larger.
Quotes source post: 7004372
The Turbo (and C4S) probably has larger radiators as well as the different bumper cover/ducting.
Quotes source post: 7004361
The C4S and the 40th Anniversary cars have the larger (Turbo) side radiators. I found this out while attempting to install the third radiator kit to my car. Aside from the radiator all other parts did not fit.

OUCH!!! OK, I deserved that! Touch!
I like to think if my car not as a tip, but an Auto-Manual...
.... and don't like to think of my car as auto-SLOW, but it is!

Of course, you meant to type "40th" anniversary.
