Suggestion
I would recommend researching vehicle wraps, it's amazing what they do with vinyl these days.
Replace paint color (complete repaint) is kind of daunting

Suggestion
I like the orange, but the idea of changing paint color (complete repaint) is kind of daunting.

Starting to replace the Roock stuff with Ultimate Motorwerks parts / tuning starting this week.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There is a guy in Long Island that did this to his turbo.... spent sh*t loads of money to do it right, came out great.... then he got sick of it and had a hard hard, did I mention hard... time trying to get rid of it.... If your gonna keep her. Do what makes you happy!
I have recaro seats and coilovers. Bigger turbos next month. My car had a bunch of Roock stuff all over it when I bought it. Apparently had 600hp. Starting to replace the Roock stuff with Ultimate Motorwerks parts / tuning starting this week.
I would recommend researching vehicle wraps, it's amazing what they do with vinyl these days. All those flat black lambos and turbos you see in europe and the gulf are wrapped (as are most sponsored cars these days). 100% reversible, highly durable (you'll get up to 5 years out of most) and they look very good, fraction of the overall cost of paint (especially considering depreciation)
I effing dig it!
Then again, I have a yellow Pcar and an orange Mustang, so maybe there's something wrong with me.
And yeah, the P will loose some value with another paint job.
What are you going to do with the interior color. Orange over red is pretty hideous IMO. I do like orange on the car - it's a huge job, and will run you into the tens of thousands if you have it done right. I would say it's not worth investing those kinds of $$$ into any 996. There is always Earl Scheib or Maaco I suppose.
+1 This really is the way to do it if you think you'll ever want to get rid of the car.
plus a good wrap job is only about 1/2 of what a good paint job costs
Andy
+1 w/ everyone else.
I think a paint job STARTS at $10G.
You could have it wrapped for $4-5.
But if you are in a 600hp Pcar, do you really need to go over the top w/ cosmetics? Just my 2 cents.
I like the orange, but the idea of changing paint color (complete repaint) is kind of daunting.
[My dream color is either Gulf or Mexico blue. Black wheels. Natural brown interior. ]
A bright orange is a color that you are absolutely are passionate over or one that you particularly don't like for your vehicle. I have purchased 3 bright orange vehicles in the past brand new, a Chevy Nova, a Ford Pinto and VW Super Beetle. I never tired of the color, in fact sometimes I felt like I was more fond of the color than the car itself. Orange would have been my first choice for a 996. Silver is acceptable, don't love it or hate it, easy to keep clean and it seems right for a Porsche.
Man, go for it, why not if you can afford/justify it.
There was a guy in OC a couple years ago that did an Audi TT in that color, it turned out amazing.
Orange is also kind of an old-school German color, think of the old 2002's in that color.
People should do whatevre they want to their cars, but you also have the responsibility to do it correctly, and not half-way. A full repaint is terribly expensive. You are looking at no LESS than $10,000. Of course, it will be unsaleable down the road. You will own it for life, or have to give it away. I would encourage you to simply look for another car if silver is boring you. (It would, me).
