Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

It always amazes me to see folks spending $1000-1300 for a 30K service thru the dealerships where most of the work is "visual check of XXX".

I did my own DIY (with a lot of the more difficult tasks done by Loren from RennTech) and if you look at the maintenance schedule and associated tasks...most of the writeups reference check this...check that....look at belts, hoses, clamps etc...the only real work was the oil change, filter, air filter, plugs, and run it on Loren's PIWIS for documentation on the overall health of the car.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm looking for recommedation(s) to an independant service shop for my 2003 Carrera 911. The car is just coming up on it's 30,000 mile scheduled service and it is coming off its "CPO" in May. The closest proximity to Punta Gorda, Florida, the better. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Have you considered DIY? The 30K service is just an oil& filter, air, & cabin filter change. Takes about an hour.

POST 3Original post

Orient: Don't you have to do the plugs too? I did my own DIY (with a lot of the more difficult tasks done by Loren from RennTech) and if you look at the maintenance schedule and associated tasks...most of the writeups reference check this...check that....look at belts, hoses, clamps etc...the only real work was the oil change, filter, air filter, plugs, and run it on Loren's PIWIS for documentation on the overall health of the car. It always amazes me to see folks spending $1000-1300 for a 30K service thru the dealerships where most of the work is "visual check of XXX". BTW...the changeout of the cabin filter is a waste. Sure it filters the air....but do you drive with your sunroof open, or windows down? That effectively by-passes a cabin filter....unnecessay expenditure of good money.

POST 4Original post

2002 and later 996s have a plug change interval of 60K miles. As a minimum I recommend blowing the cabin filter out with compressed air. You would be amazed at how much stuff it accumulates. It can look worse than your radiators.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the feed back. My objective is to establish a working relationship with a good independant mechanic/ shop. Also, I'd like to find any potential problems before the CPO coverage is dropped. Thanks again

POST 6Original post

See if you can locate any local PCA members that can maybe direct you to a good shop. Also try posting in the East US Forum and/or the Rennlist Region Florida - Drivers Club International
