Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, need some guidance by the board here as to thoughts on this. I just talked my father into buying a 2001 C4. (Pics to come, very nice, orient red). He is on vacation in his car right now. Twice, he has popped the clutch and stalled the car (new to the stick thing). Trouble is, both times, it has taken over 1 minute to get the car to even turn over after stalling. Nothing happens when he tries to restart. Has any of you heard of this? Experienced?

POST 2Original post

My wife was having the same problem. She's only 5'2'' and did not have the clutch pedal pressed all the way to the floor....

POST 3Original post

Also check the carpet under the clutch. It can bunch up and prevent easily pushing it all the way down.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They called and said that the key wasnt working. They switched to the other key... ill let them know..

POST 6Original post

Does the start issue only come up after the car stalls? Typical starting causes are: bad battery or battery connection spark plugs fouled leaky injector flooded engine faulty tranny ECU starter alternator bad engine sensors (CEL would light up usually) compression leak

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

He says it has happened twice, both times after he popped the clutch and killed it. Both times had to wait over 1 minute before anything would happen..

POST 8Original post

I had a similar thing happen to me a little whilie ago. Check out this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/187891-stalled-996-would-not-start-again.html -- larry
