Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also my 944 only has lap belts( no shoulder harness) so i have to run an extra strap back to the hatch to hold the car seat in tight.
Leading evidence: 'Run extra strap back' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run extra strap back' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a '88 944 Turbo S and am looking to sell and purchase a 996. The back seats of my 944 is quite cramped for my 3 yr old, is the 996 any better? Is it possible to have 2 car seats and be able to drive for short distances with 4 on board? Also, I've heard the Cabriolet has a smaller back seat, is that true? Many thanks in advance, this is an important issue for me before making my decision to purchase......
I use baby seats in the back of my 996 and they work for short distances. The biggest problem I have is convincing the kids not to kick the back of the seats.
A big variable in this equation is how tall you and your wife are. The taller you both are, the less room the babies will have or the more uncomfortable you will be.
The cabs have the same size seats BUT the top of the rear seats tilts forwards, which makes it far less useable when it comes to baby seats.
I've had a 944 and both 993 cab and coupe and the backseat room is similiar. I had my kids in the back of the 944 when small both with and without car seats. They loved riding in it because I was slowly turning them into car guys as well. I also had a 356 cab- lots of headroom with top down, but as noted above, the seat backs aren't even vertical so they aren't as comfortable. Obviously you can't go on very long trips with the kid as you have to take so much crap along for them!!!! But the P-car is great for short trips with the rug rats... (my newest 996 doesn't have back seats and my "kids" wouldn't now fit there if it did- also a little hard to climb through the roll bar!)
To clarify, my comments were limited to comparing the angle of the 996 coupe and cab backseats. For the 996s, the cab rear seat backs tilt forward slightly, which makes the car less practical for children seats than the coupe.
I think 944 and 996 back seat room are about the same. Car seat in back doesn't really provide decent room for front passenger. If your child is 4-5 yo, a booster seat will work better than a car seat.
I have both and the 944 is more cramped than the 996 for a 3year old. Also my 944 only has lap belts( no shoulder harness) so i have to run an extra strap back to the hatch to hold the car seat in tight. All are correct in that you've got to move the passenger seat up so far that the passenger is very cramped too...but where else can a family of 3 have so much fun for $2.25 a gallon?????
Must be nice to pay 2.25 a gallon. As for the car seat, if you use the OEM one it is really thick and sits a little forward. I have no problem in my cab when the baby(1 yr) is in the back. My wife is 5' 6 and she just slides the seat a little forward.
