Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 2Original post

How do you 'rip' a hole in the windshield? Any pics of the 'rip'

POST 3Original post

He ripped the windscreen (I am assuming he has a cabriolet) not the windshield. Not sure how easy it is to replace the screen (keeping the existing metal frame). A new windscreen costs around $300.

POST 5Original post

Yeah, get a new one. There's a few on ebay and you can get one from Suncoast, sunset and brandywine. You won't find a OEM mesh to match even if you could glue a new mesh on somehow. If the rip is very minor, try "jb weld" epoxy or silicon to glue it back. I would personally not bother repair bc it'll bother me.

POST 7Original post

Go to home depot and buy a role of replacement screen, and some 1/4" steel tubing. First pre drill 1/8" holes liberally in the tubing, using 1/2" sheet metal screws, fasten the screen to the tubing utilizing the pre drilled holes. Next spot weld the steel tubing on the existing frame (you may want to remove the windscreen from the car for this part) then spray paint it flat black. Please post pics of this so everyone can learn.

POST 8Original post

Have you done this before or seen it on another car? I'd think it'll look ghetto.

POST 9Original post

I second that. It would be ghetto unless you cut the bar in half and put a hinge in there so you can fold up the windscreen and store it in the trunk. Seriously, just buy a new windscreen.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hmm...6 hours of work and a spot weld might be overkill - I think I'll suck it up and by a new one. Thx to all of you on the board BTW. Very helpful for a new owner. I will post my pix next week....after I give it the Zaino party!!! '02 C2 cab artic silver/blk

POST 11Original post

Na bro, that ****'s the bomb. I painted my neon yellow, because yellow is fast yo! Peace out!

POST 12Original post

I think you should take one of your kids' beanie babies and have it sticking halfway through the screen. Maybe a flying squirrel (or a flying pig).
