Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with an old one, abs light gone' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean maf sensor or' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

A lot of people have solved this problem by cleaning the MAF sensor or replacing it.

Suggestion
If yes, try disconnecting the battery for 30 min, then connect and try PIWIS again with the key in position 1 (lights on-ngine off).

I had ABS light after replacing front suspension components.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
Looking for help diagnosing an
ABS/PSM warning
on my
2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (996)
.
Symptoms / timeline
Last year:
ABS + PSM lights would come on sometimes
right after startup
, but would usually
disappear after 12 minutes
(sometimes after a short drive).
This year:
After taking the car
out of storage
, ABS + PSM are now
on all the time
(they come on
immediately at key-on/startup
and never clear).
Speedometer works normally.
No jump-start
was used.
What I tried
Replaced the
brake pedal switch
(no change).
Tried steering-angle relearn (lock-to-lock + drive straight) no change.
I only have a basic
OBD2 reader
(engine/DME) → it shows
no codes
(I assume it cant read ABS/PSM).
With lights coming on
immediately at startup
, what are the most likely culprits on a 996 (wheel speed sensor open circuit, brake pressure sensor, yaw/accel sensor, ABS control unit, low voltage, etc.)?
A lot of people have solved this problem by cleaning the MAF sensor or replacing it. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to dig deeper. Might also be wise to take the car to a trusted shop that can dig deeper into the DME/ECU to look for codes/errors.
I had ABS light after replacing front suspension components. I put in brand-new pad-wear sensors in the calipers. First turn on, ABS light. Process of elimination, one of the "new" ABS wear sensors was bad. replaced with an old one, ABS light gone. So even a new pad-wear sensor can be bad, bummer. Not too bad, only about $5 each IIRC, but a PITA. Maybe one of your sensors is bad?
Just a thought.
YMMV
My battery was weak, I changed it, but still have P9114 and P0600
Looks like my ABS/PSM lost its coding since the battery was really low ( 9%) but won't allow recoding
It can be a number of possible issues. Before spending on parts you need to read with PIWIS. It will tell you exactly. In my case I have seen this three times, once it was the brake light switch, the second time it was the front right speed sensor, and the third time it was after a wheel alignment that the car needed to recalibrate the steering wheel via PIWIS....
Just connect it and it will be clear what problem you have
Did it communicate with all other systems? If yes, try disconnecting the battery for 30 min, then connect and try PIWIS again with the key in position 1 (lights on-ngine off).
