Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If it is within a few miles of my home, I'd be happy to take a look at it, and also recommend a good independent PPI

Suggestion
To my knowledge the revised bearing does not address the real IMS issue--the use of a sealed bearing due to otherwise inadequate lubrication to IMSB.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all, a new RL member from NE PA here. I have been searching for a 2002-04 C2 or C4 cab for a few months now. Ive been learning plenty, but still have lots to go. I have been looking but seem to come back to one in CA with 50K on it. Ill throw out what I know and look forward to some interesting replies.
1st Owner - 3 year lease and 30K miles and no service history.
2nd Owner - 6+ years. It had the motor replaced 3 months after he purchased it, (verified it by contacting the dealer who did the work) and it has had regular service since. It was replaced in 6/2005 under warranty, any ideas if this engine is free of RMS and IMS bearing issues?
Since Im here in PA and its in Los Angeles Im hoping someone in the area is willing to go take a look at it before I schedule a PPI. Please PM or email me ([email removed]) for the info if youre in the area and can take a look at it and take it for a ride. Thanks in advance.
Jeff
The reman engine in this car likely has the revised IMSB (22mm nut) that is

a candidate for LN Eng retrofit. The only way to know for sure is to pull the transmission back and view the bearing. Some people say you have to pull the transmission, other say you pull it back and squeeze a "scope" behind the flywheel. I have not attempted this myself. To my knowledge the revised bearing does not address the real IMS issue--the use of a sealed bearing due to otherwise inadequate lubrication to IMSB. Sounds like you need to make a call to Jake Raby.
Los Angeles is a big city. What part of LA is it located

I was only looking for 1 volunteer and trying not give to much information to others who are also looking for a 996. Larry has offered to go take a look at it since it's close to his office. I appreciate the suggestion though.
