Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We are having a house built and I drove out to see the slab being poured. The truck did not see my car and backed into her. Grrrr. The times on the pictures are off by one hour happened around 9am this morning. Well the good news is that no one was hurt and she is not hurt to bad. I will get new side markers getting rid of the pumpkins and going clear. I am wondering if I should go OEM bumper or go with a Turbo / GT style bumper. I like the looks better then stock bumper. What do you guys think? Which bumper? Or should I stay totally stock? The bully! Before the bully backed into my Lady. My hurt baby! Gouged the bumper, broke the head light and creased the fender. Also had a piece of cement or something hit the hood and put a small dent in the hood. The lines are all way off as you can see. I hope there isnt anything else wrong. I drove her to the body shop that the dealers uses and dropped her off. A good thing is that my friend for many years works there and will be going all the work.

POST 2Original post

Oh man terrible careless cement driver! Well at least no one was hurt. The color is in tact and least it was not the rear where the engine is. Go with a turbo front bumper or one of those GT3 style.

POST 3Original post

New headlight, new clears, and new bumper I guess... Hopefully you had a lot of chips on it! Fender looks messed too... You don't believe in basements?

POST 4Original post

Sorry for your loss. +1 on the GT3-Style front bumper.

The Houston area doesnt believe in basements. They say the water level is too high out here. I think they are full of it. Downtown has tunnels and the sky scrappers have them. I miss them! I am from Chicago and everyone has them there. Called the Insurance co. Still waiting to hear back. At least I have witnesses.

POST 7Original post

Lesson: never sneak up on a cement truck. Why do you need a new bumper? Looks OK in the pics. -td

Gouged!

Look at the corner of it... Edit: OP beat me to it.

POST 10Original post

Looks like thats gonna need a GT3 bumper... and side skirts... STAT!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok so if I can get them to buy a new bumper should I go with this one? http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=POTE996EX I read that you need the rear spoiler, BUT then I read this on a different thread. ------------------------------------------ Adding Aero Front only? OK Adding Aero Front and Rear Wing? OK Adding Aero Wing (or other downforce in rear) only? NOT OK This is directly from PCNA and they will NOT allow the installation of just a fixed rear wing only. __________________ Cheers, Dell ----------------------------------------- I just want to make sure that I do the right thing. Thanks Copper

POST 12Original post

That sucks. Did the pumper or the cement truck hit your Porsche? I'm building a house on spec(I must be nuts) and the cement form truck that did my full foundation backed into and over a fire hydrant at the end of my driveway. Just be sure you don't have hidden damage in addition to what your photos show.GL with the repair.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It was the pumper. We must have had the same driver. Just got the phone call, T.A.S. is paying for all the damages and repairs. Bumper / hood dent / fender / side markers / head light. Hopefully no hidden damage. I called the body shop and they received the confirmation from T.A.S. also.

POST 14Original post

Wow, that sucks. Glad to see that the pumper co. is picking up the tab to fix everything. Hmmm, I think that she will look great once the comsetic surgery is completed. We have the b4 pix...we need the after pix, too...once she is out of recovery. GL.

POST 16Original post

no one hurt is first. bummer. it brings a tear to the eye. then again there is opportunity..... pix with your new bumper choice please!

POST 17Original post

Bummer for the hit. Hopefully you will get it back on the road soon.

Are you a lawyer? It is a good thing that no one is hurt! Maybe I am not understanding what you are trying to say. Are you saying bummer no one is hurt or just bummer about the damage and its good that no one is hurt. Any how... I am looking at this bumper. http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=POTE996EX

POST 19Original post

If you upgrade the front end you have do the skirts and the rear, otherwise it will look lopsided. Or at least the rear.

POST 21Original post

You forgot to post pics of the truck after the accident.

POST 22Original post

I imagine the cement truck driver almost had a heart attack when he realized he had hit a Porsche....

POST 23Original post

That sucks. The headlight might be the most expensive part of that repair. At a minimum you'll get those nasty rock chips taken care of. Claim emotional anguish and get enough for the entire Aero Kit.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is the GT3 bumper and the Carrera Aerokit II Bumper Cover the same? Suncoast wants $1,395.00 and I found Precision Porsche GT3 Front Bumper Porsche 996 C2/C4 99-04 for $999.99 at Vivid Racing.com? http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/p...4-p-32414.html Thanks

POST 25Original post

I once watched a 911 sideswipe a dump truck in downtown Boston. The Porsche driver decided to change lanes - how she didn't see the dump truck next to her, I'll never know. I know I almost had a heart attack seeing that kind of abuse of a fine auto.

POST 26Original post

Have it checked out further. Look at the alignment of the headlight to the hood. Maybe your headlight bracket is bent also. Maybe more hidden damage...

Try to pull a 'Larry' and say a snowplow made me get hit by a semi. That guy got a turbo out of the deal.

Yea I can take a joke. But I am not an idiot. It is a car to be drove, **** happens - LIKE YOU If I would have drove my Lexus or Tahoe they would have been hit also. Any how. Back to the story. Well the car is being pulled apart. Got my parts order. Only one broken piece that was plastic by the side marker. Getting the whole front end painted new Carrera Aerokit II Bumper Cover / fender / ect got the radiators cleaned out what a mess. The radiator even had a kids sock sucked up in the vent. Look at all the leaves and stuff on the ground. By hpdcopper By hpdcopper

POST 31Original post

Does the whole front end HAVE to be painted? I always avoid repainting from factory paint--especially the front end, if at all possible. I can understand the need for the bumper cover, but the hood and front fenders, too??

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The left fender has to be replaced and repainted The hood got a small ding and a scratch to the metal. So they need to over spray the right fender and drivers door to blend the paint. So that will take care of all rock chips that I had. Then after 2 weeks I have to take her back and get the clear bra put back on her. At least I am getting a nice clean front end.
