Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The brown plug is the one i replaced, the 2 green plugs on passenger rear look good, so im not replacing those.
Leading evidence: 'Replace the 2 green plugs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check main seal' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I think at this point your best bet is to drop the transmission and check the main seal.

I do not want to fill the engine with oil just to have it poured out again.

long story short I need to replace the cam plugs on my 2001 carrera 2 after a blow by test mishap, it was mentioned by other members that the cam plugs were the most likely culprit of the leak due to the over pressure I caused in the block..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

long story short I need to replace the cam plugs on my 2001 carrera 2 after a blow by test mishap, it was mentioned by other members that the cam plugs were the most likely culprit of the leak due to the over pressure I caused in the block.. My question is I see the cam cover, which I believe is the intake cam cover on the driver side top rear of the engine, I replaced it. It looked like it was weeping slightly. But obviously not where all the oil came from the other day when doing my test. I dont see the bottom cam cover which I believe would is the exhaust cam cover. Theres a large circular cover in the area where the cam cover should be. It would be impossible to remove the plate without dropping the engine or removing what I believe is the cross member. Is that plate covering the cam cover? Is that plate sealed and can oil leak from it if the cam cover pops off? If not, then the oil is not coming from my cam covers. Heres some pictures. Top pic is the plug that I already replaced. Bottom pic is the cover Im referencing. I do not want to fill the engine with oil just to have it poured out again.
That cam plug is intact.....Check the others..
If you are sure the leak is coming from the forward most area of the engine it could be the rear main seal that blew out !!!
I think I would refill with oil and verify the location of the leak
ok, here goes nothing. The brown plug is the one i replaced, the 2 green plugs on passenger rear look good, so im not replacing those. Ill take a better look around the central area. Thank you
Also, one of the things I forgot to mention. In my initial post when all the oil started leaking from doing my crank Case pressure test I said all the oil leaked out, that wasn’t the case. Looks like only lost about 3 quarts.
3 qts. Is a huge amount of oil to lose from a leak. In addition the intake cam and exhaust cam are under the same cover (one on each side of the engine). I think the round covers youre talking about are the oil scavenge pumps (one in each head. I think PT3 is correct in mentioning the main crank seal. If this is the case your leak will show up right where the bell housing meets the crankcase. I think at this point your best bet is to drop the transmission and check the main seal. Good luck
The passenger side rear of the engine has two plugs top and bottom of the head, I only see one plug on the drivers side up top. Before i purchased this 911 a ppi was done by a prev potential buyer. The inspection noted that the RMS was leaking and both cam covers. The bell housing/engine area is weeping, not dripping to the floor. The only area dripping to the floor in my garage is on the drivers side-rear corner of the engine area, which coincides with that area of the engine that is covered in oil from the top to the bottom and it has been doing that since I purchased it. Im gonna drive again some more today
there are three plugs per head. Two on the side where you access the cams for locking and one above the oil scavenger pumps.
Edit. Sorry I failed to entirely read your last post. I think you realize this.
thank you, for the reply. Thats exactly what i see. I replaced the one on the right(driver side) rear engine. The rear passenger side of my engine is dry.
