Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have done a search and was wondering if anyone has done this? Is it different than the C2? Do you have to drop the front axels if so how much time will that add? How far out of alignment will the car be should I drive it right in for an alignment or wait untill it settles? Any other tips? Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

This is one of those things that if you have the resources it is well worth your time to just have a pro install it. I paid my local indy $650 for the complete RoWM030 install and full alignement. If you do decide to do the task DIY, then there are a few guys here that have done it and hopefully chime in to help out. Either way, good decision to go with the RoWM030, you are going to love the new handling after it settles.

POST 4Original post

I did it on my 2000 C4 Cab. You will want to pop the ball joint and the tie rods on the fronts. Not necessary on the rears. Do NOT try to do so with one of those "pickle fork" tools; you'll end up tearing the boots (ask me how I know). You can rent the ball joint tool and a spring compressor at your local auto supply store if you don't have 'em. But they are pretty inexpensive to just buy. Because I tried it first without the proper tools, the money I "saved" doing it myself ended up paying for a replacement lower control arm and front half-shaft. So I strongly recommend using the proper tools, or following Dell's advice and paying a pro. But if you are at all mechanically inclined and willing to use the proper tools, it is a great way to get to know your car.

POST 5Original post

Can anyone chime in to tell me if I will need to pop the ball joint on my 2 wheel drive ?

POST 6Original post

Unless you have the proper tools have a local shop do the work for you. It is not a difficult job... So if you do tackle it take your time and learn the car.

POST 7Original post

no - I did mine without splitting the ball joint and BTW <SMACK> for reviving a 5 year old thread
