Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
It's true that there's probably a better chance that my Porsche will get damaged because I drive it in the snow, but I truly don't care.
Leading evidence: 'better chance' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'better chance' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean packed snow out of every wheel' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I did have to clean packed snow out of every wheel on the car, though.

now you need one picture with complete clean snow and only tire marks from the car going sideways
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The PSM barely kept it straight and I just barely had enough momentum to make it through, but it worked.
Yeah, I love the odd stares you get as you are driving and the SUV drivers are looking down at you thinking "Look at that crazy bastard. Must have spent all of his money to buy the car, and can't afford an SUV for the winter." Hard to wipe the smile off your face, especially when you can enjoy it all year!
I am hedging my bets- we're headed over to Mazama this weekend for some snow time, regardless of whether or not the big storm hits...If only I had snow tires for the C4! Actually, the golden retriever and the better half don't both fit in the c4, so I guess we are taking the Toyota.
I used to think that when it came to cars, my ultimate goal was to acquire an expensive sports car like a 911 and live happily ever after, only to realize that almost anybody can get their hands on one. At some point I realized that being in a position to own a 911 AND never having to worry about it getting scratched or wet or breathed on funny was the REAL goal. That's why I drive my car in the winter.
Well, that, and because it's an absolute blast. It's true that there's probably a better chance that my Porsche will get damaged because I drive it in the snow, but I truly don't care.
I look at my snow/salt-covered Boxster and appreciate every minute it serves as my daily driver.
The 911, however, stays in the garage unless the roads are dry/clear.
When I see a 911 out in the snow I just think, damn that guys having fun.... hope he has snow tires!
So many people around here don't have a clue about tires, especially the ones that buy the "sport" suv's that come with summer rubber and can figure out why they stink in the snow
In Maine, we didn't get but 8" from the last 'blizzard', so I'm also wondering if we're gonna get snow or hype
this time. My plow is on my GMC pickup regardless so I hope we get some snow.
Driving in the snow was fun on Monday.....Driving or better yet sliding on the ice Tuesday was a blast!!! Had nothing better to do but slide up and down my street. Pictures tomorrow
Just be careful out there. Even though it's a C4S, once you start to lose it, the 4 wheel traction isn't necessarily going to save your butt. Better to stay out of trouble to begin with.
Overconfidence is the mother of tragedy. I know it was for me!!!.

No doubt that you still have to be careful! I put dedicated winter wheels with Blizzaks on my C4S. It does very well in most winter conditions, but I still feel better in the Cayenne. The weight of the Cayenne makes it feel more stable in the snow and slush, even if this really isn't the case. When it really gets nasty out there, I leave the 911 in the garage.
Went blasting out of the 6" of unplowed snow in my driveway with the Cayenne, I dont think a 911 would have made that
Snow was a real non-event around here.
It's quite a non-event here too. They don't close the schools here until 14 inches of snow or more. Once the roads (and my driveway) are plowed, I don't mind driving the 911. The deep stuff can be problematic.
It's 1:15 in Maine, still snowing with very high winds, looking out my office window at home...on the 2nd floor. Just measured 20"
from the window sill. I'd say we have about 15" so far on the ground.
Depends on how hard you press on the accelerator, I guess. I forced my through several hundred feet of snow that was at least 12" deep on Christmas. There was one set of tracks through it already, and it got a little dicey for a little while there, but I hit it in third gear and kept the gas down. The PSM barely kept it straight and I just barely had enough momentum to make it through, but it worked.
I did have to clean packed snow out of every wheel on the car, though. If it wasn't dark and we weren't headed to a party, I'd have taken a picture.
not that I am complaining, but for a skier, this sucks! even our mountains are getting rained on... its bloody warm and just plain fricken wet....
sorry about you guys having cold/snow, but this isnt pretty either (unless you are into mud bogging)
