Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace every other time' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend pressure is too high' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I personally find the ride intolerable on my local NJ roads at the recommended pressures.

Should I change the oil now or wait to 15k as recommended?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a new 04 C4 Cab (Guards Red, Black interior). I have some questions regarding oil and tires.
Oil.
I understand that M1 is the oil of choice, but what weight oil should I use to add oil when it is low? Currently, the temp here is between 30F and 55F durring the day most of the time. The night temp gets down to 20. Do I have to put the same weight oil in when I am adding oil? If so, how do I know what is in there now?
I have been measuring oil with the onboard computer. I am assuming that should keep it between the high and low marks, but when it gets to the bottom of the low mark, how much oil do I need to add?
The car has 3k miles. Should I change the oil now or wait to 15k as recommended? My driving is mostly city during the week with weekend trips being longer.
Tires.
I have 18" PZeros. I checked tire pressure the other day and they were at 36R and 32F. I increased them to 44R and 32F. The car is now very noisy on the highway for the first 15 to 20 miles. This is tire to road and seems independent of road surface conditions. Is this the tire pressure or the cold weather? The ride also seems to be much rougher. I have read that the recommended pressure is too high. Has anyone found a tire pressure that balances ride/noise with wear/safety?
I am in West Virginia. We have had a mild winter this year. I got caught in a surprise snow in December. The car did very good with about an inch on the road. I love the AWD. I have had it out a couple of times in similar conditions and it seemed to do fine. A couple of times I felt like the back end was going to swing around, but the problem seemed to correct itself. The winter season is almost over here, so I am not going to get winter tires this year. Right now, I don't think I need them, but I have note been in snow over two inches or on the highway when it is snowing. Should I drive this car in the snow with summer tires? If I do get winter tires do I have to get new rims?
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.
I would change the oil now. and then every 5,000 to 10,000 miles thereafter. Filter can be changed every other time. I prefer a 0W - 40W M1 is fines, although I prefer 10W - 40W in you ckind of climate. Either is fine.
When you run your back tires in cold weather at the 44 psi pressure, you will get more noise until the rubber gets nice and warm. You can lower them a few pounds if you want. The difference between your front pressure and rear pressure is IMO too great for street driving. Rule of thumb is about 6-8 PSI difference. I run mine at 38F/44R all year. It's a rougher ride, so experiment with your car to find what you prefer.
0W-40 Mobil 1 or 10W-40 Castrol Syntec.
Check your rear tires and look at the inboard threads are worn out. If they are they are the cause of that noise. Also, underinflation contributes to that inboard wear.
My rear tires were fine on the outboard but were really worn out inboard side. I replaced them with new ones and noise is totaly gone. I also run the rears now no lower than 44psi.
Regarding the oil change, Porsche says it's not necessary - really your call (I'd consider whether or not the car will be a longterm keeper).
I agree with you on the tire pressures. I personally find the ride intolerable on my local NJ roads at the recommended pressures. MUCH better at 32/35 and maybe alittle higher if you plan to run hard or at the track. And don't waste your time on winter tires in WV!
