I ran into a high pitch noise issue only to find out that the crossovers for the front speakers were placed too close to other existing wires causing the pitch. Moving the crossovers to a another location solved the problem.

the real issue is that in 03s, you simply cannot replace the headunit without having to replace a bunch of other stuff because it is rendered useless.

Let me get this straight.....if I yank the head unit, the speakers, the amp, run copper wire, replace w/a good entertainment/nav system, new speakers & amp, am I out of the woods:????????or, is there more to worry about??

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What after market entertainment/nav system has an aux input for my IPOD?

POST 2Original post

Alpine has a very slick interface with the iPod, good luck trying to install a new head unit on an 03 Porsche, your amp and speakers become useless.

POST 4Original post

the problem is not the issue of AUX in, most aftermarket head units out there have AUX in, some even have a full interface with the iPod the real issue is that in 03s, you simply cannot replace the headunit without having to replace a bunch of other stuff because it is rendered useless. STUPID MOST BUS.

POST 5Original post

You are 100% Right..........Thats why you need to change everything. But I believe RLandis asked what aftermarket Nav had Aux inputs.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to rewire, and add plain ole copper to install after mkt system....that's why I'm asking about Aux In.

POST 7Original post

Alpine is the only aftermarket system that has the "full" function for the IPOD. You will need to order Alpine KCA-420i iPod control interface ($100) in addition to the stereo system.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Let me get this straight.....if I yank the head unit, the speakers, the amp, run copper wire, replace w/a good entertainment/nav system, new speakers & amp, am I out of the woods:????????or, is there more to worry about??

POST 9Original post

you are out of the woods unless you have electrical problems, and then good luck arguing with the dealer about who owns it.

POST 10Original post

you should be OK by replacing everything related to the stereo. just make sure to get the car's computer reprogrammed, or i believe the car won't start without the radio.? another peculiarity of the MOST bus.

POST 11Original post

I recommend you go with a good stereo installation shop. I ran into a high pitch noise issue only to find out that the crossovers for the front speakers were placed too close to other existing wires causing the pitch. Moving the crossovers to a another location solved the problem. Good luck! Minh

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Minh, what year is your Porsche, and what did you install?

POST 13Original post

I have a 2004 Anniversary model (MOST). I removed the factory system and had the following installed: JL audio 500/5 Amp JL Speakers all around Kenwood 7015 w/ Nav Kenwood Music Keg (2) JL 8in sub w/ custom enclosure in the rear Minh

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you don't mind, what did that setup cost? Did you have to have the car re-programmed due to yanking the factory system? Also, did the Kenwood music keg require an aux input, where I could substitute my IPOD for the Keg? I really want to get going on this project.....either after mkt, or PCM II. thanks,

POST 15Original post

No I didn't need to have the car re-program. There is NO input for the ipod. The Kenwood music keg has a dedicated input will NOT work with the ipod. Alpine is the only aftermarket system that I know of that can work with the ipod. You can get aftermarket products to play the ipod through FM (sound quality wont be as good). As far as cost it is not cheap!!!!! Minh

POST 16Original post

I too have a 40th and am contemplating upgrading the audio. More interested in adding Sirius (no FM mod) and improving sq. How much of an improvement in sq have you noticed with your setup? And, if you had to do it over again, would you choose any different components? Thanks, Joe

POST 17Original post

Joe, The sound quality is night and day as compared to the PCM II system. However, I personally think that the Alpine system, which I have for my other car, sounds a little bit better. As far as the factory look you cant go wrong with the Kenwood system. You can add sirius easily with the Kenwood or Alpine. Alpine will cost you a little bit more. Minh

POST 18Original post

Alpine is about to start delivery of a new product (VehicleHub) that will attach to your system (I was told2 months). It will allow for addition of speakers, amps, etc. as well as fully integrated iPod attachment. It is model VPA-B211A. http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/pro...ng_english.pdf
