Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

One other thing - I can't really recommend touch screens for all users - check out the used high end car lot, and you'll discover what suntan lotion and makeup can do to them - it's ugly!
Leading evidence: 'Recommend touch screens' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend touch screens' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Don't fall into the "DVD" folly - in this application "DVD" means absolutely nothing more than all of the data has been selected & compressed to fit onto one disc - while that's a utility gain, it's not a functionality or data set gain.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm fairly new to this forum.....and I want Nav for my '03 C4S. The advice I get is mixed....first, I'm warned not to tinker with, or have anyone else tinker with the OEM Bose sytem, due to the MOST bus, and by removing it, I could have serious warranty issues.
Then I hear the PCM II is awful. All I'm interested in is navigation from point A to point B, and an occasional POI. I've had OEM systems from Mercedes, Lexus, Range Rover, a Pioneer which I installed in an Excursion, and they all got the job done, in varying degrees of quality.
I can buy the PCM II for $3500 (is that a decent price?), and be done with it, or I have to buy a whole system, and have it installed.
Please advise.
If you are OK with spending $3500-4000, then I suggest ripping out the entire Bose system and replacing it with alpine or something of the like. You can get a like-new PCM2 for half that price pretty easy. Just post in the want ads and start searching - they're there to be had. I know! With about an extra $150-200 in parts, you can add the PCM2 to the Bose system - this is exactly what I'm doing to my '03. There are explicit directions on how to do this on Renntech thanks to a fellow board member.
Yeah, there are better things than PCM2 but they will not look factory and more invasive work is involved, i.e. removing the Bose or overriding it. So for less than $2K, PCM2 is the way to go. Just be glad Porsche actually did some R&D and improved upon the original PCM
i'll let you know how the install goes
I realize mine is an unpopular stance here, but I would say go with PCM II. It's nicely integrated, and strikes a good balance between mapping and information (POI). Of course, the mix of information varies manuf to manuf (depends on what they pay NavT. for). The best POI information is on the GM Nav systems, but their road mapping will drive one ####. Most of the aftermarket units do very, very, well indeed on mapping, but have limited POI data. Don't fall into the "DVD" folly - in this application "DVD" means absolutely nothing more than all of the data has been selected & compressed to fit onto one disc - while that's a utility gain, it's not a functionality or data set gain.
