Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, so it's been about -15F for the past few days in Minneapolis and wind chills about -30F but I refuse to park the P-car, always let her warm up fully before taking off.
It developed a a sound which sounds like the pulley gone bad, it's basically a whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh sound coming from the engine when the rpm's increase.
I called our Porsche service and they were wiiiiiiiiide open with no work today so I took her in and will keep you posted. The bummer is I am taking a week off from work starting tomorrow so it's gonna be the Audi A6 for a week I guess.
A lot of people who know me think I'm totally nuts for driving the 911 when I have two Audi quattro's in the garage as well
She drives the A6 Avant 3.0 quattro and I have the sedan 3.0 quattro (my car was driven once since June when I got my P-car).
Let us know what it is. The only thing that my car did in the cold, was the door creaked really loud when I opened it...or was that my knees? Back to 30 by tomorrow!
-15 to -30, ouch, that hurts.
Maybe your motor was turning into a big slushy, sorry...
I do hope it is nothing serious. Even though I don't take mine out in bad conditions, I do respect all you winter DD's.
GL and keep us posted
SHE'S A HEALTHY GIRL AGAIN!!!!
They found the serpentine belt to be completely worn out and also found the pulley for the belt system to be making "a loud grinding noise". They installed a new pulley and belt and everything seems fine. Actually, I might be crazy but she seems to rev much easier and the car seems a little faster than before. Maybe the pulley was holding me back?
Anyway, my vacation will after all be spent with my car
Total cost: $243.10 (for the belt, oil change, and $100 deductible for the warranty.)
Glad to hear it was nothing serious.
Brrrr it is in the +40's here right now and that is too cold for me, heater is set to 72 now
So I cannot even imagine minus anything.
all you guys are welcome to beautiful south florida. our high today was 81 deg. and our low was a chilly 62 deg. glad your p-car is running smoothly again.
You shouldn't let the car warm up fully before taking off. That is the slowest way to warm up an engine from cold. You can check with Porsche on this. I'm sure there are other posts on this topic. Typically the recommendation when outside temps are very cold is to run it briefly until the windows are adequately defrosted and then drive it asap keeping the revs low until it warms up fully (less than 4000 rpm approx). The car will warm up faster this way and it means less wear and tear.
Great to hear! Need to keep these MN cars running. My low outside air temp reading record is -20 so far. Really ran great. Luckily, I get to start in an attached garage that starts out at about 20-30F above.
I didn't know that and I've been letting her warm up to about a quarter before taking off. How long should I let her run before I drive her? When it's around 30F I just get in and go but when it's -GAZZILION I try to run her at least 10 minutes before moving her.
Any suggestions for EXTREME COLD start-ups and warm-ups are VERY APPRECIATED
