Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also, I am using 997 Turbo plastic air ducts which go on the control arm and move air into the brake area.

Well, we all know that Rennlist makes you addicted (at least me) to modify the 996 and change the look, the feel, the handling, the sound ...

I could have use more cooling on the brakes this last weekend....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

UFO007's thread "From past to present - Post your pics"
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/408184-from-past-to-present-post-your-pics.html
inspired me to start this thread.
Well, we all know that Rennlist makes you addicted (at least me) to modify the 996 and change the look, the feel, the handling, the sound ... So I did quite a few changes to my car since I got her >2 years ago and although most of my mods are under the skin, below pictures from how I got her to how she looks today illustrates my journey through the joys of ownership.
How did your 996 evolve: before and after pics - please!
SMR996,
Can you please post a few more pics of your 996? I love what you have done, the mods look awesome...I have a 99 996 and yours has me thinking....
Mine has the same mods almost. I am having GT3 lower control arms put on this week. Also, I am using 997 Turbo plastic air ducts which go on the control arm and move air into the brake area. These are the largest available and they fit just like the 996 smaller plastic air duct pieces.
SMR996,
couldn't help but notice you have one of those aerokit bumpers that doesn't have the hole in the center. is that a removable piece that the gt3 doesn't have because of the 3rd radiator or is it moulded into the bumper?
That sounds interesting... do you have the part #'s?
I just had brake issues at the Streets of Willow this last weekend, they got too hot..... strange how this would come up..... I could have use more cooling on the brakes this last weekend.... lots more cooling....
I remember reading that you were having some motor issues fixed too..... How did that turn out?
Omar,
I do not ahve the 3rd radiator.... hence the center piece on the front bumper.... I haven't had heating problems at the track with the engine yet (knock on wood)... only brake heating issues.... Paul is correct... there is a "knock-out" piece in that area of the bumper for the 3rd radiator..
Thanks Peter.....
I had the Aero kit installed at Fabricante Auto Body in Lake Forest.... unfortunately they aren't in business anymore... If you're looking for a good body shop I would talk to Laura or Mark at Hergesheimer (
www.hergesheimer.com
) for a recommendation, that's how I found Fabricante....
Hergesheimer has done all the suspension mods. All the interior mods, including the bar I have done myself...
Ohhh, now this thread I can really enjoy... check this out!

... now you might be able to understand my screen name better!
LOL
Took me 6 months in my garage to rebuild it but it was worth it!

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
No, I still have the pumpkins, but like the clear lights... fits with the monotone theme rest of the car. I even have the brake lights in clear.
Thanks. I wasn't a fan of white cars before this one, but it really does look good... better in person than in photos actually.
i like the non-aero to aero before/afters best. reminds me of that show total makeover or whatever they call it.
good job redr, though you gotta get rid of the paul bunyan interior
Reborn, unbelievable restoration. You would never know. May I ask what type of side skirts did you add? I have been thinking about adding them, but haven't found the right look yet until I say yours.
And redridge beautiful detail. Eight years later she still looks brand new.
Jay
These are some great pictures guys. I love this idea for a thread. Thanks hwk72. reborn, we will have to hook up someday. Your project car turned out great. Redridge, yours is still my favorite 996, both inside and out (and still my wallpaper). Here are a couple of my previous project and my current. OEM aerokit to come on the current project (bumper & sideskirts in the garage, taco tail hiding under the pool table in the dining room
)
The last picture is the purple car before I sold it and the blue car when it belonged to Chuck.
Yes Mark, we do need to hook up... maybe get some of the other guys like Loren involved too. Let me know the next time you guys are available on the weekend as its only a 45 minute drive for me.
