Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone... I say close to purchase, but unfortunately this one is not for me, but for my best friend... 2003 Lapis Blue on light grey (like Tim's) Carrera. 27,000 miles. Under extended warranty until 2009. Was purchased from Hoehn Porshce as a CPO vehicle for $47K OTD. Purchased last year and owner wants a larger car. Options: power seats, bose, and comes with 18" sport classic wheels. I believe the bill of sale is available. $39,000 Firm pending carfax and PPI, I personally this is a pretty good buy. If Hoehn was willing to CPO the vehicle last year, it sounds like it's a good car. The bill of sale will indicate mileage current owner purchased it at, and I'm guessing he didn't even drive the car much. extended warranty only for 1year +, but that provides some peace of mind in case anything goes wrong... pic attached below.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

here are some pics of the car...

POST 4Original post

agreed. That is a nice looking car. Assuming a clean PPI then I say buy it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Interesting: If this car was about $80Kish brand new and this car is $39K, that's 41K in depreciation in about 5 years. This is $8200 per year or $683 per month or $23 per day... that's quite a substanial amount of depreciation... It seems as if the 996's are quite the bargain... and I like the MKII with the 3.6L motor over the MKI... Also, the car has 27,000 miles... this means the car was driven at a cost of $1.52 per mile (ouch!)... Useless information, except that I think it emphasizes what a great relative bargain 996s are right now...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

also, i've been shopping 997s and to find a nice clean 2005 997 C2 is high $50Ks to low $60Ks... that's an extra $20K for a 997 with probably comparable miles, but just 2 years newer... quite a big jump to move up to a 997, and in my opinion currently not worth the premium...

Above is correct and it further emphasises what economic nonsense it is to buy a new luxury car at sticker price. Sounds like a great deal and clean car with just about the right mileage for the age.

POST 8Original post

That's a great value, but then I can't stand standard 996 interiors. If you're cool with the options, go for it, bud. You will enjoy the drive. A 997 Carrera is not worth the extra. Carrera S or 996.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the replies. we have decided to go forward with the process. PPI will be done at Black Forest Auto in San Diego based on my search and the postings of other RLs, they seem to be very reputable. Add'l comments on the Black Forest appreciated. $197 for a PPI seemed to be very reasonable. hopefully will return from SD this weekend with pics of the new car. umm... does it even matter Tim? it actually looks kind of like your car (sans the awesome flames)... thanks, aK

Good one! But, yes it does matter, 'cuz "rules are rules" and these rules will not be bent or broken for anyone! <Tim whispers so only AK can hear> I had to say that, 'cuz if I let you off the hook without posting any pics, then the next guy will be going WAH WAH saying something like "Well, AK didn't have to post any pics!" <Tim stops whispering>

POST 14Original post

Expect that mine has the Savannah Beige interior (and custom Recaros added post-sale) that's the twin to my car. I paid way more 18 months or so ago, for mine but I am still 100% happy with the deal. Your deal is Much better - go for it!

POST 16Original post

As everyone else has said, it sounds like a good deal if YOU like the color, options, and condition! It will be your car so that's all that matters.
