Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've been speculating about my '99 C2 because when I bought it, the radio/CD player had worn buttons. It's the stock radio/CD player. The rest of the car is immaculate, so the buttons being worn kind of stand out. It isn't anything I'll change because everything works just fine. So, the question is whether or not it's common practice that the wholesalers yank out stereos and replace them with older models? Seems like a stretch, but I thought I'd post the question to stop the speculation. Also, is there any way to find the previous owners of my car? I know from the Carfax that it was in Illinois for a year and then Pennsylvania for about 6 years. The Porsche dealers where it was serviced don't want to provide service records - I guess that's understandable. They want to maintain confidentiality. Bob

POST 2Original post

MY99 and MY00 had some button problems - most of the radios were replaced under warranty - Porsche issued a TSB on the problem. But you are long out of warranty. Becker North America sells the buttons - Phone: [phone removed].

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The radio buttons seem to have little circular decals that have become brittle and stick up around the edges. They're too brittle to manipulate - it's odd because this car has no evidence of any sun damage inside or out, but the button/decal thing looks like exposure to sun. Is that the same button issue you had, Loren?

POST 4Original post

I would recommend calling Becker first as Loren suggested, they could probably help best. I have not had button issues, but rather a dead spot in the LCD display that drove me crazy so I bought a whole new removable faceplate off eBay.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the advice. I'll call Becker. Bob
