Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

GT3 rear wheels from 2005 Turbo for sale. These wheels look just like the GT3 wheels but they were an option on wide body cars for 2 years. Used less than 2000 miles. Fit all wide body 993 and 996. 11 X 18 et 45 $1000 plus shipping from zip 97205

POST 2Original post

Do you have pics? Can you please e-mail them to [email removed] ? Thanks, Adam

POST 3Original post

They do NOT fit the narrow body 996. You would probably get bites on the TT or GT2 forum.

POST 4Original post

I spoke to Arling of Lucent, the fender needs to be rolled. but i know someone in the bay area who bought it from wheelenhancement.. looks like it fits he has a supercharge , c2 narrow body

POST 5Original post

that's simon's 996. he does not have the gt3 style wheels that are made for a TT. they are way wide and the offset will stick them out beyond the fenders.

POST 6Original post

cool good to know, that's why Arling said the fender needs to be rolled btw, i regret not getting your sportec , didnt know this 996 is gonna come up

POST 7Original post

that sux. you snooze you looze J/K. the search for wheels continues. the regular gt3 wheels (18x8, 18x11) will need fender rolling on a narrow body 996. i have a set of kinesis k18s that came from a gt3 and the fenders DEFINITELY needed fender rolling. the gt3 style wheels for the gt2/TT need 2" of fenderwell per side. you won't need fender rolling, you would need fender FLARES

POST 8Original post

what does "fender rolling" mean and what has to be done??

POST 9Original post

"Fender rolling" = some neanderthal sticks a baseball bat between the tire and the fender of your car and rolls it back and forth, pushing the fender lip in. Thus creating some extra tire clearance. If you're lucky (and it depends on luck since it is not science) you will get that extra tire clearance without creasing the metal, or cracking the paint, or any other malady. If you're unlucky, your fenders will look like crap and your car will look a little like a '49 Mercury with the fender skirts removed.

POST 10Original post

you have to use the tricks of the trade. use a heat gun to soften the paint to prevent cracking. it also makes the metal more maleable. it also helps to use something like this. bought one and works really well. had to modify it to the 5x130 bolt pattern though.

POST 11Original post

If you have a Techart dealer nearby, they all have fender rollers and can do it for you.

POST 12Original post

I don't think the issue is that it needs fender roller to fit a narrow body, it is that it sticks out of the fenders. I have seen 2 narrow body cars with turbo wheels and they definitely stick out. One of the cars was using the turbo wheels for race tires at the track. Both had stock non-lowered suspensions. The other was just driven on the street. I don't think rolling the fenders is enough since these wheels place the tire under, not inside, the wheel well lips. I would be far more concerned about damaging the body work with the tires hitting the lips. I have a set of CCW rear 18x11.0" wheels for my race tires. They were custom made with about a 70mm offset to fit the back end of a narrow body. Currently I have 295 rubber on them, but there is plenty of room to fit 315's without rubbing or fender rolling. There is no way this would fit with an inch less offset.
