And for all those who don't believe bobporsche996 story...you should all call south shore porsche in long island and ask the service manager how many 99 engines had to be replace by porsche compare to the 993 engines...uh

The fact that Porsche early on in the m96 series chose to replace motors with persistant rms fails is hardly a condemnation of the design, just a corporate decision based on dollars and cents.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Why do you guys always bash the 993 owners are we not from the same family. Most of you here have probably never driven a car with an air cooled engine I have been driving water cool engine cars all my life...beside you don't have the solidarity as most 993 owners
And for all those who don't believe bobporsche996 story...you should all call south shore porsche in long island and ask the service manager how many 99 engines had to be replace by porsche compare to the 993 engines...uh
Personally I like 993's, TT's that is, I'm looking at one now in fact. Don't forget the na 993 has demons of it's own, far worse than the rms in the m96/7 motors. The m64 na engine is notorious for valve guide problems, usually a 7k fix. The fact that Porsche early on in the m96 series chose to replace motors with persistant rms fails is hardly a condemnation of the design, just a corporate decision based on dollars and cents.
Me thinks you are pointing the gun in the wrong direction. It's been my experience that the "air-cooled" guys tend to knock the new cars as "soft" and the new owners as cup holder loving latte drinkers that spend money from stock options on Porsches newest poseurmobiles.
In fact, I believe the opposite of your assertion is true. Most on this forum have a great deal of respect for the older cars and in fact many of us started out in old 911's (and still love them today). Additionally, most of the "bashing" comes from the other side (look to the moldy figs for your barbs, it sounds like you are already a card carrying member).
I'm not an "aircooled guy" or a "watercooled guy". I'm a Porsche guy!!
I love them all (and that includes the Porsches that have their engines up front)!! If I had Seinfeld's ATM card, I'd have a garage full of Porsches to satisfy my cravings, but for now my two current wasserpumpers will have to do.
Tell that Evo owner Ill take him to "Pinks" on any road course. GT3's are not drag racing cars kid.
There are plenty 996TT's that are set up for drag racing that would smoke the aformentioned Evo.
BTW, you are giving 993 guys who are truly passionate about their cars a bad name.
Bob, I mean sptchoice, congrats - you successfully trolled 2 threads. Now it's time for you to troll the Ferrari forums. I hear there are Ford dealers selling some wicked Ferraris....
I am so so so fortunate to be 5 yr and illiterate and owned a 911 with no lien on the my title...eh...just goes to show your stupidity...your hatred lies within
Re-read your posts.....your grammar (and the thought put behind your posts) seems to be at about a high school level.

"And all with gt3 I saw one got his *** kick by a mitsubishi evo in a quarter mile aka south conduit in queens ny last friday nite"
Pretty funny!!
Jeeeze...one post to an old thread and look what I start...
new threads regarding...
extended warranties...
how many miles on your original engine etc
and now a 993 owner that can't play nice in somebody elses yard.
I own a 993 but I like to cruise over here and check it out because I like all porsches and you guys on the 996 board have some rockin' cars also.
and before I would think about calling a porsche dealer regarding Bob's sad sad terribly life altering traumatic affair with his 99...I would ask him for the case #'s from the Seattle Fire Department and verify that way...oh...wait...did they forget to write a report Bob? HAHAHAHA
Sure.
I hope you 996 guys will let me hang out once in a while...I'll be sure to remember where I am and mind my manners.
Hey hold up! You're the one who came here to pounce on the 996 forum and wholly unfounded I might add. Nobody here has any bitch with 993s or any other Porsche and your assumption that we have just adds to your aggravating ignorance. What gave you the g-d damned right to take up the position of spokesman for the 993 group anyway?
I am not so sure what "lien on my title" means. I can guess it means something like you own your 911 outright with no loan owing. Well good for you. I have no clue what this relates to in this regard but I am really impressed. Bowled over. Maybe you should tell us how big your house is next........NOT.
Hey Scouser, thanks for saving me the typing! Well said. If it needs to be said, I think the 993s are rocking cars just as much as the 996s. But, then again, I like the 914 too...
But, I must admit, I've learned something from this thread. Grammar can indeed be spelled "grammer" and "grammar". However, "grammer" is:

Cheers.
914 is a brilliant car. Especially love them on the track. They dont go fast but man do they have glue on their shoes or what! I just wonder if it is possible to drift a 914 at all.
As for grammar, grammer. Well I agree the spelling is acceptible but spelling, typos and the like I can go with. But what the hell does "And all with gt3 I saw one got his *** kick" mean?
Well, I thought it was a typo too but he defended it, sooooo...
What does that quote mean? It means his parents should ask for their money back from his alma mater.
WTF - I don't get it. Could somebody explain what he meant to say? I'm not a native speaker and guess my english teacher must have skipped this lesson.

Okay, I have to believe someone has taken over this poor guys account (maybe his 8 year old son?) and is just playing a joke on us... I call TROLL!
Over and out.
First off this was directed to me, I love the 993 and my best friend happens to have a very nicely done 1996 C4S. Now maybe you should ask this question in the 993 forum, Some and very few have a very bad attitude towards the 996. Some of those members have their heads so far up their asses. Its stupid comments like: Its a not a" True Porsche" or" It looks like a boxster"or " Its watered down". Funny for not being a true Porsche its faster, lighter, handles better, has an AC that works, doesn't have 20 year old technology , way better options, less expensive to maintain good looking, and the most important more HP, and more TQ. I am sure somebody will post this on the 993 forum and take what i say out of context. I don't think you can compare the 993 vs the 996 , both awesome cars but very different, however you can compare some of the owners, you will not see many in here bash the 993, unlike what some the 993 guys do to the 996. Is this clear on how I feel and why I bash some owners.
I personally do not like 993's. I mean they are old now. I look at the interior and it is like and old smelly shoe. I really do not get the fascination with them. Infact when I see some pleb in one I see a wannabe porsche guy in an old fart mobile that looks like a museum peice.
For me it is about getting the next, newest most expensive porsche because a porsche is about flaunting rediculous amounts of money on a super speed machine. Call me shallow but I like a porsche because it does 280 km/h, I often get close to those speeds on Czech roads and also because it is bling bling $$$. A 993 is a rust bucket and a has been.
Is that my quote or yours...my last post on the 993 forum had nothing to do with the classified ads in fact my post was pertaining to our may 28th run see pics
"Proof that the silly comments can come from 996'ers also"
I don't get it? Why buy an oldy mouldy car? Unless you are poor of course. Each to their own but for me I want a new/newish car not something that was made way in the last decade.
Quote "It's been my experience that the "air-cooled" guys tend to knock the new cars as "soft" and the new owners as cup holder loving latte drinkers that spend money from stock options on Porsches newest poseurmobiles."
I have a 993 TT but have had 3 996's. And ya know what? I MISS MY CUPHOLDER!!!!!!!!! hehehehe
I wish I could have BOTH a 993 and 996 in the garage
These cars are great and the sound that the PSE makes is truly addictive! But regardless of the generation, any 911 still makes me do a double-take and they all have their own charm.
I think most 993 owners are not as stupid as sptschoice might make people think we are. Nor are they jealous and wish they could "afford" a 996, as someone back there surmised. It all comes down to personal choice. Time to play nice now! Can't someone lock this thread and ban certain users (a non-member too) from this site?
OK...I've paid my membership but don't have that oh glorious red "rennlist member" stuck next to my name yet...but I'm gonna have a little fun here none the less...and add to the three ring circus...hahaha.
Sptschoice...
Its great to hear that you don't have a lien on your car...neither do many of us...might I suggest that you spend that extra cash on a more reputable ESL class?
Care4era...
You certainly are a pompous one...talking about smelly shoes etc. I love your comments regarding Bling Bling...are you the Czech "Nelly"...or would you liken yourself more to "P-Diddy". Do you have rhinestone embedded spinners on your 996?
And yes...you said it best...you certainly are Shallow! Show a litttle class.

who cares.
a replacement engine in 996 is dirty cheap comopared to 993 rebuilt.
and if you find porsches expensive, go drive something else.
every porshche i low, and i have more than 10 in the last 4 years alone, has had problems. yes, incluing 911sc, 911 3.2, 964, 993, 996.. do i give a rats *** about it? if something blows up, i buy another one. get off this forum.
sorry to inform you that there are numerous rennlisters here owning multiple porsches lien free, some even have multiple multi-million dollar homes lien free and i know one who even own some islands in SE asia lien free.
What is the difference between the five and six trans in terms of performance..

6 speed has one more gear than 5 speed, last i chk'd.
this thread is getting rather entertaining, indeed.
troll feels that many of us haven't driven air cool cars. well... were should i begin, let see what air cooled cars i have abused, vw bug, vw k70, karman ghia, 914, 916-6, 356B, SC, 3.2, 964, 993.... i think i have had enough air cool'd toys. they are ALL good. who is ever bashing 993?
This thread is hilarious. This is not a 993 vs 996 thread. This is a thread about troll who can't even spell right, doesnt' know the difference between a 6 speed and a 5 speed, and I doubt even knows the difference between a 996 and a 993.
Might I add a quick interjection here...I don't want to offend anybody that English is in fact a second language. I spend alot of time in Mexico and speak so-so Spanish...however...even with the friends I have down there I wouldn't dream of coming into their "house" or so to speak (i.e. 993'r in the 996 forum) and insult them poorly in their own language. Me thinks a little more mastery would be in order.
I totally agree with palting about this not being a 993 vs. 996 thread...more like a logical people vs goobers thread.
"You certainly are a pompous one...talking about smelly shoes etc. I love your comments regarding Bling Bling...are you the Czech "Nelly"...or would you liken yourself more to "P-Diddy". Do you have rhinestone embedded spinners on your 996? "
I have been watching too much american TV, "pimp my ride" for example. I can just imagine a 993 owner saying, "Ex, my 993 is soo oldy and mouldy, please pimp my ride"
