Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In our move to Philadelphia, covered transport is given through our relo company. They use DAS (Dependable). I guess they pick it up on a flatbed, take it to a yard where it's loaded on a truck, then taken somewhere in New Jersey, and then to my house outside Philadelphia. They say this can take 12 days. Is this a normal amount of time? Has anyone used DAS recently? Should I just tow it myself, BMW X5, if possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

POST 2Original post

I've heard mixed reviews on DAS...ideally you want to avoid a shipper who is going to flatbed it to an 'intermediate' location before loading onto the main transport. There are plenty who will pick it up on the main truck, thus minimizing the shifts (where the damage can occur), and shortening the delivery time. I'd say if towing yourself is an option, it would be ideal.

POST 4Original post

I used them 2 years ago to move a 540i from Dallas to LA. I dropped off the car at their warehouse near Dallas on Monday and picked it up at their LA warehouse that Friday. I recall their rates were one of the better ones at the time and felt the service I received was good. Your shipping time sounds long for the relatively short distance.

POST 5Original post

Ask to see if they can change it to Intercity, it is door to door service. They come pick it up and then drop it off from the same truck. I would hate for some idoit to drive the car on and off the trailer and have it sit at yard somewhere especially Jersey.... I have used Intercity twice moving from coast to coast, not a single scratch, car arrived in perfect condition. Here my 993 is being loaded on an Intercity trailer to be shipped from Miami to LA..... but took about 3 weeks to get there.....

POST 6Original post

FWIW, I would drive it myself, just for the fun of it. I bought my car in Minnepolis and drove it to DC, for that same reason.
