I just used Dependable Auto Shippers to ship my 996 from Houston to Atlanta and they were fine.

I used Thomas Sunday to ship my 928 from Washington to NJ last year.

I talked to one shipper who has an enclosed trailer and uses a flat lift.

He cautioned me against using a transporter that doesn't use a flat lift as driving the car up and down the ramps for trailers can damage the front spoiler.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm getting close to buying a 996 that is out of state and hoping for a recommendation to ship the car from the Midwest to the Pacific NW. Searching online brings up a ton of possibilities and would appreciate anyone who has a personal recommendation. Thx.
I just shipped mine from il to Ca. Try to get a driver and not a broker. A broker can sit on the case and later upcharge you because you are now two weeks anxious. Put it on Uship. please don't make the mjstake 2of giving a deposit. They will hold you hostage. COD only!
Do NOT use Dependale Auto Shippers.
FWIW - I flew out to CA and drove my newly purchased C4S home over 2,200 miles when I bought it (I lived in Indiana at the time). Given the choice, I'd do it that way again!
If you choose to use a carrier, make sure you verify their DOT # and insurance. You can check the carriers info at the below link by using their US DOT #, MC #, or company name. Verify status is not "revoked" and insurance is good. Unfortunately, I used to own a trucking company so I've been there.

Be very careful using sites like Uship.
+1 on this, if it's not a option for you Reliable is the best in my experience with several of the major carriers. If you can be flexable with pickup & delivery it can lower the cost.
I'll never use them again. They move the car from truck to truck too many times for me. In my case, the car above my C4S on the carrier leaked oil all over my car. The DAS guys tried to clean it off, but they scratched the paint on my car trying to do it. Ultimately it buffed out, but it was a pain in the ***.
Shipping sucks. I had a bent tire steam on 987 and they stole my user manuals. Confirm the manuals are in the car or have the seller send those separate.
We became shipping brokers to facilitate the moves of Porsches from all across North America to and from our facility. We are members of a large network and can give you some insight about a mover's history if you find one and want to know more about them. There are more bad movers than good ones, but last year we moved over 90 Porsches without a single issue.
We have two very good movers that we use to service the PAC NW, they make east west runs weekly and are great to work with.
An enclosed carrier is preferred but a little more money. The dealer paid for mine on enclosed carrier. Very happy with condition on arrival.
I would not risk driving cross country in a P-car you dont know well. I opted not to make the 300 mile trip in mine at time of purchase because I did not know the car well enough.
We have been very lucky shipping all these cars... Heck, out of several hundred we have moved the only one that ever got damaged was my own and it was a military vehicle that had top damage. It would have happened even if I would have moved it myself from Arizona to Georgia.
We turn down shippers all the time, either based on their ratings, or their attitude or how they carry themselves. We've done it so much now that we have found good movers that stay in different regions and have service to and from us. If we can use someone we've used in the past then we know they are reputable. The cheapest price is where you get the crappy service.
Pacific Auto Transport - driver Vacilli [phone removed]
They just delivered from Oregon to B'ham, AL for $1,500 enclosed. The car was not moved once it got onto the carrier. It was picked up on a Tuesday evening and arrived the following Sunday morning. Great communication.
I talked to one shipper who has an enclosed trailer and uses a flat lift. He cautioned me against using a transporter that doesn't use a flat lift as driving the car up and down the ramps for trailers can damage the front spoiler. Said its more of an issue with GT's and Turbos which have low front spoilers. Anyone know if a stock 02 911 C2 should have a problem going up a ramp into a trailer?
Thanks for all the advice everyone!
I had a great experience with Bob at Cimarron Auto transport for going Phoenix to Dallas. [phone removed]. My car was alongside new MB, new Camaro and new Bmw, and he was extremely reasonably priced. If he can't do it, ask for a referral, he's been doing this a long time. I wouldn't think twice about using him again.
The 40th anniversary cars have essentially the turbo front end and Vacilli's (sp?) trailer brought no damage to my car. It was a very new looking rig; he was also carrying a Lambo, a 56 t-bird and some kind of mercedes. It was not the traditional, old style ramp rig. I too have had a bad experience with one of those. Best of luck.
02 911 C2 arrived this weekend. Ended up using Show Car Services

. They were a bit cheaper than the other quotes and the previous owner has used them in the past. Delivered exactly in 1 week as promised. I did check the recommendations posted in the thread and several came up "not authorized" from

Really excited to have the new car. Just need to get the license squared away and enjoy. I'll try to post pics soon.
