I am surprised though the unit you installed didn't come with either linkage?!

Bought a lightly used pre-owned 997 shifter console last year but only gotten around to install it yesterday, but found out the linkage to connect the ball at the bottom of the shift rod to one of the shifter rod was missing, I could re-use the OEM linkage but would prefer to use the one that should have come with the console with low mileage.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bought a lightly used pre-owned 997 shifter console last year but only gotten around to install it yesterday, but found out the linkage to connect the ball at the bottom of the shift rod to one of the shifter rod was missing, I could re-use the OEM linkage but would prefer to use the one that should have come with the console with low mileage. The seller has been very helpful trying to find this piece for me, but so far no luck. In the mean time, does anyone by chance have a new or nearly new one of this kicking around gathering dust? It's the linkage in the lower center of the shifter console bottom image below, and a close-up of it.

POST 2Original post

I just replaced my shifter with the one you're installing about three weeks ago. My shifter didn't come with any linkages, so I just reused my old ones. The white pin connection was very tight and the black ball and socket connection was fine as well. Shifts much smoother and the throw is a little shorter as well. Are yours that worn that you can't reuse them?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I decided to reuse the one from my car, just didn't like the thought of putting on mostly a low mileage shifter with a high mileage shift linkage socket, it doesn't feel too bad at all when I drove it afterwards. The seller has arranged an used linkage without any noticeable wear from a local shop for me to pick up, so I am all set to have a complete set. I am surprised though the unit you installed didn't come with either linkage?! That's very odd since the second linkage takes a bit of effort to remove and should have been part of the shifter.
