Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I pulled the stock speakers out of the doors and installed MB Quartz for midrange.

I checked the sites to see if anyone had done this before - not that I could find.

Some music desires different setting for the stereo worse yet.

I would suggest using the dummy/false switches on the console and going with fiberglass enclosures for the rear footwells instead.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This journey started with wanting to play MP3's on my stereo. With the 210, I couldn't and decided to install a nice Kenwood HU. I pulled the dash speakers and couldn't believe these were the upgrades. Decided I needed a strategy to upgrade all the speakers. Starting with the dash I went with Focals- great speakers. But now it was going to get harder, I wanted at least 8" woofers. I considered different types of woofer boxes, but I really didn't want any extra in the rear of the car. I also didn't want to lose space in the rear, due to planned trips. Woofers in the doors didn't make any sense. So I investigated how difficult it would be to install them in the rear locations. I checked the sites to see if anyone had done this before - not that I could find. So I decided to investigate how hard this would be. ( I r

didn't want a sub-box or added weight)I removed the 4" stocks and was surprised how much room there was. Long story short- with minor cutting and slight sheet metal bending, I got the woofers to fit. I added foam in the cavities and make a surround ring for mounting strength. Then high density foam for the irregular shapes. All I need to do is add speaker grills.
I pulled the stock speakers out of the doors and installed MB Quartz for midrange. (sorry didn't take pics but it is very easy to remove the door panels)I put some some amps in the trunk to power everything and I then added switches in the panel in front of the shifter to power the HU, Amp and the radiator fan over-rides.
The new HUs give you a lot of control for crossover points and equalization. The difference between the stock and new system is startling. The bass is solid and reaches down pretty low. The Focals have great imagining. It sounds like a very good home unit.
Very happy with the complete install. I already had the amps, and woofers, the HU, MB Quartz & Focals totaled ~$250.
Things yet to do - attach woofer grills, finish woofer surround with matching vinyl, fine tuning of sound.
I don't doubt that the sound quality is much improved, but the rear speakers and multiple toggle switches really cheapen the interior. I would suggest using the dummy/false switches on the console and going with fiberglass enclosures for the rear footwells instead.
I agree the red subwoofer exposed and the switch are not flattering for the Porshe. I understand that with lower selling prices , we are gonna see a younger crowd in the 996 and the tunning will have to get cheaper looking. I hope it sounds good, but I would have suggested to purchase bose OEM subwooffer and retrofit to your need.
I spent $450 in a Dension ;Gateway to add ipod connection to my CDR23, to keep the interior as original as possible.
