Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 99 Carrera cab and I just went through the exercise of changing the rear springs. To do this you need to put the clamshell into the "Service Position" and raise the back part of the top up so you can access the well that the top folds into. Once you do that you need to remove the molded cover that hides all the mechanical bits that make the top do its stuff. When I tried to do this I ended up being stymied by the plastic parts shown in the picture. I think their purpose is to receive part of the top frame when it is folded. Couldn't get them out and consequently ended up having to fight to get the top strut bolts out. Lots of skinned knuckles
and cursing
.
Can anybody ID these things and give me (and others) an idea of how to get them out? I tried and was afraid to break them and end up having to pay the dealer big bucks for new ones. Any help would be appreciated (for the next time).
Thanks Dharn. I tried to do that but it seemed like a really tight fit so I gave up before I ripped the cover. Next time (hopefully never) I'll be more persistent. I'm always a bit shy about breaking things on this car as our parts in Canada are just stupid expensive.
On another topic I really admire you for tearing into your motor problem and fixing it. A real inspiration for all us sh*thouse mechanics out there. Hopefully you have many years of driving pleasure in front of you.
