Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I found out that the 2001 cab uses one shock, while the turbo uses two, so my plan is to install a second shock (the mounting holes are there, just unused) rather than going to the trouble of replacing the first shock (mounting screws are hard to get to).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi - The shock that holds the rear engine lid on my 2001 cab no longer keeps the lid up! I found out that the 2001 cab uses one shock, while the turbo uses two, so my plan is to install a second shock (the mounting holes are there, just unused) rather than going to the trouble of replacing the first shock (mounting screws are hard to get to). I've order the new shock and now I realize that I need to order the mounting screws (or whatever they are that hold the shock in place), but I can't find a part number. Can someone help me out? Thanks! -jerry "redcab"

just call Sunset Porsche in Oregon... they will just look it up and mail it to you

POST 3Original post

You'll need a second hinge as well for the shock to mount to, I have a 2003 targa which has dual shocks on it. If you have a C4 I think they are different from below also. No. 996.512.551.03 is the Right Shock No. 996.512.152.01 is the Right Hinge
