Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

God I hate the shifting in the 996 Turbo. Any recommendations? It's like driving a rubber gearbox filled with jello with this thing. I need something ASAP. Thanks in advance. Joseph

POST 2Original post

Some have changed to 997 shift assemblies and liked the results. I got mine from a friend and really notice a differance though some say the throw is like rowing a boat, so consider a short shifter kit if you want that. B&M is one of the better ones and the knock offs might look ok, but might not last as long or work as well. I see 997 shift assy's for sale from time to time.... hope you get one and try it

Nope, I am flying Tim here to install mine! it will take only 1 hour and 20 minutes, after he is done I will show him the swamps in the Meadowlands.

POST 7Original post

GOOD LORD !! Tim comes to do the work and his "reward" is a trip to a swamp?

I think he intends on dumping Tim's body in the swamp after the shifter is installed, so there are no witnesses to the fact that he couldn't do the install himself!

I had the B&M shifter in my 2000 Porsche 911. It was great, much beter than stock. My 2002 911 has a short shifter but unable to tell what brand, it was not in the original invoice. Unlike the Blue B&M shifter its looks like white plastic and shifts are a little longer but still quick. Chris

I lived in NJ for two years (longest decade of my life) and I learned enough while living there not to accept Marc's offer to fly up there. I figure I would end up within 1/4 mile of Jimmy Hoffa's final resting place!
