Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

But when i decided i wanted a big jump in power i swapped the motor for a k24 turbo and dynod at 425 to the rear wheels.
Leading evidence: 'Replace motor' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace dme flash' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If it does, then send in the afr/ign parameters wanted and ask if they are able to change your dme flash to your custom maps....

Changing the fuel and ignition maps on a Porsche M96 engine can only be done by overwriting the factory tables stored in the Bosch Motronic DME .

Just keep in the back of your mind that software can certainly help to pull all of the pieces together as well as improve the throttle response in e-throttle cars, but the power gains come from a good set 200 cell cats.

Well on that one both also for 20 years and most all other tuners were using our flashing and cables back then.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I need a tune.
Ive done all the usual bolt ones; IPD Plenum, GT3TB, Rennline intake, headers, 200 cell cats, and Fabspeed MaxFlo mufflers.
Ive been trying to locate a local dyno tuner with no luck. Additionally, I had heard positives about EVOMS, radio silence from them.
What are my best options at this point?
Couple of things you can do.
1. I would give your local indy a call and ask them who they recomend.
2. You can call whatever shop you bought the plenum or headers/cats from ask ask them who they woukd recomend in your area.
3. Call Rhonda at FVD Brombacher and tell her everything you put on the car and see if she can send you software that ties it all together. FVD started off in Porsche software in Germany decades ago and then grew into a big Porsche aftermarket race company and parts supplier.

Headers can detract from the power gains if they are not well engineered. The Plenum/GT3 throttle body adds nothing to performance in a naturally aspirated M96, and will move the power delivery higher up in the power band unless you perform head work and match the proper headers. But you will get a glorious intake sound which to me is worth the price.
Best of luck finding a shop.
Thanks.
The parts have been a gradual progression over the last couple of years. Just did the 200 cells as the last of it. Tune to tie it all together and clean it up is all Im looking for.

I had similar mods on my 997 and the tune brought everything together. I have since done a motor swap but the power on the old 3.8 was impressive compared to stock. Link to dyno below

This is the problem most tuner shops have with our m96 DME...
Changing the fuel and ignition maps on a Porsche M96 engine can only be done by overwriting the factory tables stored in the Bosch Motronic DME . Because the stock ECU is locked, you cannot live tune it with a laptop/keyboard. A tuner must be able to modify the internal hexadecimal code and flash all new maps to ecu.
Or flash a canned tune that takes into consideration all the upgrades you've done. Then you're pretty much stuck with that 'canned tune' as it is.
Although if ya have cash and time,,, check that canned tune on the dyno and see if it needs to be tweaked. If it does, then send in the afr/ign parameters wanted and ask if they are able to change your dme flash to your custom maps.... Some canned tune' sellers can do this , some can not.

Email exchange with Softronic sounds a lot different than your experience. At this point they’ve essentially told me that my mods are pointless, probably cost me HP, and I should have just got their tune to start with……
That is surprising to hear. But if that was what he told you I would thank him for being honest.
i loved my modded 997 with the tune. But when i decided i wanted a big jump in power i swapped the motor for a k24 turbo and dynod at 425 to the rear wheels. Considering Softronic advice, i would enjoy the car as is and if you ever want a real bump in power look at a Kswap
Hello,
Looking at your mods it is more of 1 perhaps and I think post 2 has it in it.... Tuning will always be the first and most of gaining from a Porsche than general bolt ons and many will lose HP or inhibit it so you have to choose them correctly .
Typically since the 996 came out 200 cell cross over pipes or catless work and the factory airbox will with perhaps a BMC filter and of course a quality flash... I like to keep it simple... Larger TB are like choke tubes they will slow the air velocity down for the charging of the cylinders and should be correctly sized to offer a balance from the low to the top end.

Take it to the inspection as long as you did not remove the cats etc or flash it back to the original file as people have done for more than 20 years.

I don't understand the second part of your response. You're saying it's not necessary to flash to the factory tune for the smog inspection?
In other words, the Softronic tune will pass the California smog test?
Thanks!
Well on that one both also for 20 years and most all other tuners were using our flashing and cables back then. Many went off and opened their own shops years later.... Just because you run it on a dyno doesn't mean you would get any better results as we started the data logging when we started the port flashing for the Porsche cars consumer and also dealers.

Thanks Scott. So it sounds like everything is pre-programed. How do you take into consideration headers, 200 cell cats, ipd plenum and Gt3 throttle body in your programing versus a bone stock 996 for both a 3.4 and 3.6?
Thanks
