I just recently bought a 2001 C4 tip and had a very fund drive home to Chicago from Boston where I got it (speeding ticket aside in Dunkirk NY). The car had summers on it and the rears are about shot. It is that time of year and have the tires selected on tirerack.com but I'd like some recommendations (location and what I should expect to pay, things you learn as you go....) as to where to get this done. I did use the search but only found posts from a couple of years ago and would like something a bit more current. Thanks.

Can't help directly, but my indy shop orders directly from Tirerack and charges me cost (plus mounting, balancing, etc.) Your local may have a similar deal. Send a PM to [email removed] , he may be able to direct you to a local shop. Oh, pics please.

Go to the tire rack website. It has installers listed for your area. Prices are listed.

You can actually drive over to South Bend and have them installed at the Tire Rack store. That's what I did when I bought my summer tires. For winter, I went with the Blizzak LM-25s that have been discontinued. They will be replaced with the new LM-60. I got a new set of LM-25s for less than $600.

Ditto, on the tirerack recommended installers. My local independent in Barrington has a Hunter balancer and did a fine job mounting my Blizzaks for me recently at $20 per tire. I put on 275s on the rear and they fit fine on an 11 inch wheel.
