Tim, I realize you want to try and save costs but in the long run the PROPER way to go on your GTB car is to move to the GT3 6-pots and proper wheels (18's).

Suggestion

You could call the guys over at VCI and maybe work some sort of spacers in order to use a bigger ''stock'' rotor rather then the expensive cheap rotors that come with the kits.

Suggestion

Bolt spacing is the same but don't know if you'll be able to use same rotors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone here adapted a set of Big Reds to a 996? I want to upgade the brakes on my new race car but want to stick with the 17in rims. since I've got 3 sets of rims and enough tires to last most of the season it would'nt be cost effective to have to switch everything to 18s.

POST 2Original post

POST 3Original post

Bolt spacing is the same but don't know if you'll be able to use same rotors. You could call the guys over at VCI and maybe work some sort of spacers in order to use a bigger ''stock'' rotor rather then the expensive cheap rotors that come with the kits. Or do as I did and get GT3 front and rear brakes. Rears are direct bolt ons but as for the fronts, you'll need GT3 wheels carriers.
