This will be using OEM material not your run of mill leather that doesn't match to the rest of interior.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am thinking of putting these on my seats to reduce wear on them. Anyone using them? Install difficulty? Heated seats issue with them?
Thanks in advance
I think most of the car seat covers are pretty ugly. You'll have reduced heat from butt warmers after covering if it's thicker than 1/16 of inch which most covers will be. Plus, you'll probly slide a little on top of the cover.
If you treat the leather with good protectant and stay out of sun when it's not driven (car cover, windshield shield, window tint, park in shade), your seats should last a while gracefully. You can always get them recovered.
I am mostly concerned with the fact that i am scuffing the sides getting in and out. Just general wear and tear sorta thing... so i thought i would cover them to reduce that.. any idea what it runs to recover the seats?
If you recover, you'll be talking about $400-500 per seat or roughly 1/2 the cost of a used mint sets. This will be using OEM material not your run of mill leather that doesn't match to the rest of interior.
Second thought, just don't leave the car!
Do you condition your seats? That'll help. If you take care of it, I think you can get 10yr of wear if not a bit more.
Zaino also makes a good leather protectant I've heard. I may try that when my Lexol can runs out and I'm due for Zaino polish.
Lexol towlette leaves nothing but a slight shine. It's easy to put on and avoids the typical "mistake" of putting too much on leather and soften it too much. At $5 a can, it's probly the easiest to get and use. Meguire has a similar product that is supposely good too.
Rather than neopreme foam Okole seat covers, try the sheepskin seat covers. I've used them in the past in my other cars and they work pretty good. I have them on my car that I keep down in Arizona. Suprisingly cool in the high temps (100-112).

This seat cover would probly be more inconspicuous than a neoprene cover. Not sure if they have one for a 996 though since it's mostly for trucks.
It's better to go bare naked!
I have been using Wet Okole seat covers for five years now. I had them in my 944 Cab (Black interiors get real hot) and now in my 964 Targa. Head over to the 964 forum and look for the $1000 interior makeover post.
Steve and the folks out at Wet Okole are great to work with. I paid $68 to have my seat cover center panels (color) replaced with what they call Cashew. It looks pretty nice my Beige interior. The covers give your leather some extra protection as well.
