Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any DIY tutorial for removing rear bumper? I have an 01 996.

POST 2Original post

I'm not sure it needs one, but I think I remember seeing one on renntech or might have been 6 speed online. All of the screws are very easy to see and you don't even need a lift or put it on jack stands. They are all phillips and two allen IIRC. Unscrew 4 screws on top inside engine lid - on top of the metal rail, then remove the metal rail. Unscrew the 2 or 3 screws on each side near the wheel underneath the bumper. Unscrew the 2 or 3 screws underneath the bumper in the middle area. With a long metric 5 or 6? allen loosen each bumperette from the access hole under neath. You just have to loosen, then the bumperettes sorta just "hinge" up and come right off. I always then remove the bumperette retaining screws to make it easy to slide the bumper off. Have a buddy help slide it off, if you do it yourself you could damage the paint or drop it, but it isn't heavy. When you first slide it off a little bit disconnect the license plate light.

I thank you. My son will help and I planned on backing the car in the grass.

easy DIY.... just use you common sense, watch for wiring harnesses and not scratching the paint.
