Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Repair (ecu doctors)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair (ecu doctors)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I purchased a spare key for my 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera (996) from Specialized ECU Repair (ECU Doctors). I then took it to my local Porsche independent shop, where they cut the key and programmed it to the car.
The key starts the car perfectly and will manually unlock the door, but the remote lock/unlock functions do not work at all. The mechanic attempted to program/synchronize the remote multiple times without success.
I contacted ECU Doctors, and they said someone would call me back, but I havent heard from anyone yet.
Has anyone here had experience with ECU Doctors replacement keys for a 996? Were you able to get the remote functions working? Any tips or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I was getting a tune from ECU Doctors and decided to have them cut me a new key as well. I had to send them the Immobilizer, ECU, and my sole key. The keys that came back from them worked perfectly. It was nerve wracking sending them the brains and the only key to the car though. Turnaround was super fast (about a week or so IIRC).
None of the remotes worked when I got my car. The keys work fine manually. Eventually, I sent my ECU, Immobilizer and all my keys to ECU Doctors abd they sold me new keys (with new remotes). They all work great.
You might have send your parts to them for programming to get it to work.
ECU Dos's keys have all worked fine for me. The ones they programed and the ones I've done recently on my piwis 3. All functions work like oem.
1 of 2 things happened to you:
1) 95%, Tech that did your key, did not program it correctly in piwis or whatever app they used. Its a kind of complicated not user friendly job the first time. After one knows how to do it, not a problem.
2) 5%, Got a defective key, but thats highly unlikely as ECU Doc tests all of them before shipping. So we're back to number 1).
How much did your tech charge to program key..? What did he say was wrong...?
Well, more than likely as soon as ECU Doc gets back to you they will request you send back the key.
If it was me, I'd send back key/ecu//imobilizer and let them do their thing. You'll get a good operating key then for sure...
Then maybe take the ECU Docs bill back to your first tech and try to get compensated for a failed job...?

Is there another way to get the IPAS code than walking in to the local dealer to ask for it (I guess that is needed to program keys...)? I tried that with no success - did not give that to me.
I have PIWIS 3 set-up and would like to be able to re-program keys to my car, since I have two keys with key tabs, but key remotes do not work...
