Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the emblem fell off the center caps I stored in my basement leaving behind a hard dried spot of some sort of glue. I am afraid of damaging the center cap if I try to scrap the residue off.... what can I use to glue the emblems back to their spot? superglue came to mind but I dont know how it will survive being outdoors on a wheel...

POST 3Original post

JB weld or F26. F26 can be hard to find. ACE sometimes carries it.

POST 4Original post

I installed a new set of genuine Porsche caps on my car (996turbo wheels) about 6 months ago, havent driven the car one mile with them on and the other day I noticed three of the four crests had fallen off and were lying on my driveway, WTF? Bad batch of adhesive? Upon inspection it does appear the adhesive that is left behind on the plastic cap itself seems dry and crispy. nice! I plan on using RTV to bond them back together.

POST 5Original post

I would use 3M 5200. Super strong, never! comes unglued and it is flexible which handles vibration, shock. Buy it at West Marine stores or online.

POST 6Original post

may look into poly-urethane adhesive - it's used to glue a windshield and back glasses .. try a body shop they may simply glue it back on for you at a minimal cost

POST 7Original post

I had the same problem, I thought it was my fault caused by Simple Green or some other wheel cleaner. OEM Porsche caps lost one on the road never to be found. Of the remaining three found two were loose and one actually fell off in my hand. Pulled the last one off for safe keeping, ordered the replacement. Then set out to find the best adhesive as the original seemed to harden with age or react to my wheel cleaner. Used a silicone adhesive, 8 months now and they're holding well.

POST 8Original post

Back in my hardward days. We use to use F26 to glue a nickle to the floor by the check out. It stayed there for years will all sorts of people trying to pick it up or kick it.
